the 1985 Caprice (and Celebrity) had both the old tail lights in back and the old quad sealed-beam design in front

the 1986 Caprice (and Celebrity) had the new design tail lights while keeping the same quad sealed-beam headlights

the 1987 Caprice (and Celebrity) had both the new design tail lights and also a newly designed front, with flush-mount headlights

no research, all memory...i knew on first viewing it wasn't a "78-79 chevy caprice classic", as you so specifically said, from the tail lights

i bought a 1986 Celebrity so was very cognizant of the differences in Chevyland back then, and have a faultless memory

ps--if you had said "mid-'80s chevy caprice classic", i may have let it slide...maybe 🚗

pps-- who has more time, the guy with less than 1500 posts, or the one nearing 30,000 posts, even accounting for the seniority difference. lol
