waiting on a new gas tank, the old fuel lining some tardhat put in it came off and it's toast, cheaper to get a new one than burn/dip/scrape that shit out. I can't be fucked with that and no wonder it ran like shit, it polluted the fuel.

Jerez Official Moto2™ Test - Day 3 Highlights
Wednesday, 20 March 2013
Pol Espargaró was quickest as Moto2™ ended this week’s third day of Jerez testing. On Wednesday, the Tuenti HP 40 rider led Italtrans Racing Team duo Takaaki Nakagami and Julián Simón as weather conditions improved dramatically.
Following on from the pouring rain of Tuesday, this morning brought sunshine which was to remain for the duration. Already fastest by midday, Espargaró went on to reduce his best effort to 1’42.636, despite expressing some clear dissatisfaction over his tyres. This edged out Nakagami – who topped the afternoon session – by just under half a second.
In the morning, Idemitsu Honda Team Asia’s Yuki Takahashi was first out of the pits in order to check the track conditions; he soon decided that it was safer to wait in his garage as various damp patches dried on-track, with the rest of the field agreeing.
It was strong day for Scott Redding, as the British Marc VDS Racing Team rider finished fourth as well as completing a race simulation run. He was ahead of Aspar Team Moto2’s Nico Terol, who completed the top five as the leading Suter runner. Tuenti’s Esteve Rabat was sixth from Aspar’s Jordi Torres and the Desguaces La Torre Zelos bike of Xavier Simeon. Completing the leading ten were Dominique Aegerter and Axel Pons for Technomag carXpert and Tuenti HP 40, respectively.
There was much activity up and down the pit lane, with this being the only full dry day of the week after the heavy and intermittent showers of Tuesday. Once again, the majority of the field elected to work on bike setup adjustments.
The fourth and final day of this week’s test comes on Thursday, as running kicks off at 10am local time (CET). Moto2™’s sole session will bring the curtain down earlier than on the past two days, with the final chequered flag flying at 1:20pm.

Viñales moves ahead before crashing at Jerez

Jerez Official Moto3™ Test - Day 3 Highlights
Wednesday, 20 March 2013
Maverick Viñales topped the timesheets as Jerez Moto3™ testing continued on Wednesday. This was to be the Spaniard’s final day of action this week, as the Team Calvo rider was injured in an accident and is now being treated in Barcelona.
It was a positive start to proceedings, with the weather having improved remarkably after the heavy rainstorms of 24 hours earlier. Damp patches looked to be a hazard in the early stages, but soon dried up thanks to the bright conditions.
A bittersweet day for Viñales was topped by his leading lap time of 1’46.603, having replaced Álex Rins on the top spot before one o’clock. The Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider fell to second place, with Jonas Folger completing the top three for Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Luis Salom and Ambrogio Racing’s Brad Binder were next up, as Álex Márquez sealed a double top six result for Estrella Galicia 0,0.
Two riders hit trouble over the course of the day. Italian Francesco Bagnaia lost control of his San Carlo Team Italia machine at the final corner, injuring his left arm and ending proceedings in a cast. However it was Viñales who appeared to grab most headlines, as the 18-year-old – viewed as title favourite by many in the paddock – crash at Crivillé corner, the fastest on the circuit, in the Moto3-only session.
With his right hand having become lodged underneath the motorcycle, Viñales suffered a lost nail and damaged tissue on his third finger. He was soon flown to Barcelona for further medical checks, and after being examined Dr. Xavier Mir of the Instituto Universitario USP Dexeus, he is set to undergo reconstructive surgery on Thursday. Furthermore, the issue is not expected to affect the rider’s plans for the opening Grand Prix of the season on 7 April.
This left Eric Granado in seventh place as the second Aspar runner, with the top ten being completed by Avant Tecno’s Niklas Ajo, Redox RW Racing GP’s Jakub Kornfeil and Arthur Sissis on a second Ajo bike. Yesterday’s pace-setter, Jack Miller, finished 11th for Caretta Technology-RTG.
Thursday will bring closure on this week’s test, which runs for just half a day. The final Moto3™ track action will end at just past midday local time (CET).

Pre Race Testing At Motorland Coming Up For KRT

Newsflash, 29 March 2013
The official Kawasaki Racing Team duo of Tom Sykes and Loris Baz will take part in a three day pre-race test shortly, in preparation for the Motorland Aragon round of the SBK championship on 14 April.
w409h272_0000034003F15EE0.jpg
This test, to be held between 2nd and 4th April, is another step along the ever-evolving development path of the well-proven Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R SBK racebike. Already a true championship challenger last year in the hands of Sykes, and a race winner in the hands of Baz, the bike is set to have several updates evaluated on track before the second round begins.

The 5.344km Motorland circuit in the north of Spain is almost a home venue for the KRT team, which is based in Barcelona. It is considered a top testing venue because of its mix of fast and slow corners, elevation and camber changes and not forgetting a more than one kilometre long back straight, which tests ultimate power and streamlining.

Sykes was injured in testing shortly before the first round at Phillip Island in late February but has made a good recovery so far from a cracked left wrist and three broken ribs. He is expecting to complete three days of testing given his relatively long period of recovery since round one on 24 February. Sykes rode well in both races at the opening round, despite his fresh injuries, placing fifth on each occasion and leaving Australia fourth in the overall standings.

Tom Sykes: “In the past few days there has been a real improvement in my physical condition. I will have some final X-rays on my wrist and ribs when I get to Spain and see how we need to play the testing. I am looking forward to the test and we have some new items to try, which should be interesting. I like Aragon because it is enjoyable to ride, exciting, and we have three days there. I am looking forward to getting back onto the Ninja ZX-10R because it has been a long layoff since Australia. The break between round one and round two could not have come at a better time for me because I have had time to recover from my injuries.”

Loris Baz: “I spoke with my team about this test recently and it appears we have a few more things to try, more or less in the same direction as Phillip Island. I am happy about that because we made a good step there. Motorland Aragon is one of the best tracks to learn because you have more or less everything there; fast and slow corners, a long straight; many different things.”

Guim Roda, Team Manager: “After this long period between round one at Phillip Island and Motorland Aragon we have been working to fix all details we didn't finish in Australia, because we could not use all of the available testing time there. It is difficult to explain in detail but from Australia to Motorland KRT has changed many details. Another good point of this long period away from the track is that Tom has had time to recover with his wrist and three damaged ribs after his crash in Australia, so for sure in Motorland his performance will be much better than the first round. Loris has been training hard too and has spent some days in Spain with the team trying to learn how to manage situations at the limit. We are confident he will be able to fight for top positions in Motorland. The ‘real’ championship starts there so let’s see the level we can show and all the potential of the 2013 official Ninja ZX-10R.”

For Sale: Ducati Supermono, just $150,000

8597767931_bcaa15aa15.webp

Advertised on CarandClassic.co.uk, the Supermono is ultra-rare and exclusive thanks to its limited 67 model production run in the early 90s but also for the involvement of a trifecta of two wheeled genius that created a truly special race bike.
The utterly elegant and flowing curves came from the pen of Pierre Terblanche which packaged the combined engineering and technical know-how of Massimo Bordi and Claudio Domenicali.
For the time, the Supermono was an absolutely exotic, high-tech unadulterated racer with magnesium bits and bobs and top grade Öhlins. The 550cc single produced around 65bhp at 10,000rpm and had a dry weight of 118kg.

271993Supermono_1024.webp

Built for racing in the Sound of Singles series, the engine in the Supermono is a water-cooled four-valve, Desmo DOHC, fuel-injected single-cylinder, with the 550cc motor based off the cylinder head of the 888. In order to balance the engine Massimo Bordi ingeniously left a dummy con-rod in place that was attached to a weighted and pivoting bar, meaning that the Supermono had perfect balance as the extra con-rod moved up and down to overcome vibration issues, allowing the single to behave more like a twin at higher revs.
As quickly as it burst on to the racing scene, the Supermono ended as Ducati moved back to their penchant for v-twins again with the 916 in 1994. However for some, me included, the sexy single will forever remain as Ducati’s true design masterpiece.
The bike is in Denmark and comes with all the relevant spares included. The seller would consider a trade-in. Remind me, what organs don’t I need again?

Lorenzo quickest in opening Qatar practice

Qatar 2013 - MotoGP - FP1 - Highlights
Thursday, 4 April 2013
World Champion Jorge Lorenzo led the way as Free Practice 1 opened the 2013 MotoGP™ season under lights at the Losail International Circuit on Thursday.
Prior to Sunday’s Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar, the Yamaha Factory Racing rider finished ahead of Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow and Factory teammate Valentino Rossi. Marc Márquez headed Repsol Honda Team’s charge from fourth.
Thursday’s sole practice period for MotoGP not only launched the 2013 campaign, but also helped to mark the tenth weekend for the sport in Qatar. For the first time ever, the session had a direct bearing on qualifying; the combined top ten from across the opening three practices will go on to make up the Q2 qualifying line-up on Saturday.
It looked as though Britain’s Crutchlow was to retain the top spot, having also led the final pre-season test in Jerez, but Lorenzo moved ahead with a last-gasp 1’56.685 lap time. This leaves the top three separated by just 71 thousandths of a second, with Rossi looking highly confident after leading the way halfway through. Reigning Moto2™ World Champion Márquez and Andrea Dovizioso – now riding for Ducati Team – completed the top five.
Due to the extremely dusty track surface and riders pushing to find the limits, an assortment of names found the run-off area at Turn 1. However this was nothing compared to Yonny Hernández’s accident, as the Colombian lost the front end of his PBM-run ART bike which flipped across the gravel less than ten minutes into the session; fortunately, the 24-year-old was able to walk away and ended his day in 18th place.
It was an encouraging start to the campaign for GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Álvaro Bautista, competing the night in sixth spot from the LCR Honda MotoGP of Stefan Bradl. Behind, a low-key start for expected title challenger Dani Pedrosa saw the Repsol man end up in eighth place, having run off the track twice. As Nicky Hayden confirmed a double top ten finish for Ducati Team, Aleix Espargaró raised eyebrows by ending his evening ninth quickest on the leading CRT bike of Power Electronics Aspar, just 1.1 seconds off Lorenzo’s leading time.
Oxford newcomer Bradley Smith – teammate to Crutchlow at Tech 3 – was just outside the top ten, but ahead of Pramac Racing duo Andrea Iannone (who steps up from Moto2) and Ben Spies, still carrying an injury from his Malaysian Grand Prix crash of last year. The rest of the 24-bike field was filled by CRT representatives, with Héctor Barberá and Hiroshi Aoyama in respective 14th and 19th places for Avintia Blusens. Between them were Aspar’s Randy de Puniet, Cardion AB Motoracing’s Karel Abraham, NGM Mobile Forward Racing’s Colin Edwards and the aforementioned Hernández.
Forward rookie Claudio Corti was 20th was almost a second slower than teammate Edwards in these early stages, with Danilo Petrucci leading the Came IodaRacing Project attack from 21st; he and debuting Czech teammate Lukáš Pešek sandwiched Gresini newcomer Bryan Staring of Australia, as Britain’s Michael Laverty completed the field while continuing early development work on the in-house PBM machine.
MotoGP™ track action continues with second practice from 6pm local time (GMT +3) on Friday. All weekend sessions can be watched live on motogp.com.

Another dry, dusty windy session. Rossi initially led the timing, then Lorenzo but they were dusted by Marquez as the session ended. Both of the Repsol Hondas seemed to have issues staying on the track in turn one after a fast lap.
The track was so dusty in one section the bikes almost looked like they were practicing on limestone for the Louisville half-mile dirt track race.
Air temp for the session was 78 degrees.
Many riders spent as much time as possible on track--Bradl did 17 laps, Hayden, Crutchlow and others 16--presumably trying to find a set up that will go race distance.
