"A U.S. submarine sank a warship with a torpedo off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, dramatically widening Washington's pursuit of the Iranian navy.
Arun Hemachandra, Sri Lanka's deputy foreign minister, identified the warship as the frigate IRIS Dena and said it was heading back to Iran from an eastern Indian port.
The attack happened hundreds of kilometres across the Indian Ocean from the Persian Gulf, where U.S. and Israeli forces are striking Iran and Tehran is retaliating with missile and drone attacks.
"An American submarine sank an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters," U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth said at the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., on Wednesday. "Instead, it was sunk by a torpedo. Quiet death."
Hospital authorities in the Sri Lankan port city of Galle said 87 bodies were brought in by military rescuers who responded to an early morning distress call. Another 32 were rescued and were being treated at hospital and about 60 people were likely unaccounted for from an estimated 180 people on board, Sri Lankan authorities said.
A Pentagon video shared on social media purporting to have captured the attack showed the warship being hit by a huge explosion that blew apart the rear of the vessel, lifting it from the water and causing it to begin sinking from the stern.
A ship named IRINS Dena was listed as taking part in a naval drill held in the Bay of Bengal from Feb. 18 to Feb. 25, according to the exercise's website. IRIS — or Islamic Republic of Iran Ship — is the more commonly used prefix for Iranian naval vessels, while IRINS, for Islamic Republic of Iran Naval Ship, is sometimes used.
Sri Lanka said it had launched a search-and-rescue operation to locate survivors after receiving a distress call.
Sri Lankan navy spokesperson Cmdr. Buddhika Sampath said boats that reached the location observed only an oil slick, adding that although the incident took place outside Sri Lankan waters, Colombo was still committed to providing support.
"We found people floating in the water and rescued them," Sampath told reporters. "Later on, we found upon inquiring that they belonged to the Iranian ship."
Rescuers brought bodies, covered in white sheets, in batches in a truck to the Karapitiya hospital in Galle, where they were moved to the morgue.
The commander of the warship and some senior officers were among the survivors and they told the Sri Lankan navy that they were hit by a submarine attack, two Sri Lankan sources told Reuters." Source

Israel’s military released a video on Thursday that showed an Iranian fighter jet being shot down by the Israeli Air Force over Tehran. The Times was able to verify the location of the footage.
Israel said it was the first time one of its F-35 fighter jets, known as an Adir, had downed another crewed fighter aircraft.
Both Israeli and American warplanes have conducted numerous bombing sorties over Iran since Saturday while facing little apparent resistance from Iran’s aerial defenses. They have struck thousands of targets, according to the U.S. and Israeli militaries.
1. A Yak-130 trainer jet in combat mode...
Experts say Iran’s air force is one of the weakest parts of its military, as it has long been hobbled by international arms embargoes. Many of its aircraft are decades-old designs from the 1960s and 1970s, when the U.S. and Iran were allies, while others were Soviet-built.
That means Iran’s planes are little match for the top-line American and Israeli fighters streaking through the skies over Tehran. The F-35 jet that Israel used was originally designed in the United States and is one of the most sophisticated stealth fighters in the world.
And while Iran has acquired sophisticated Russian-made air defense arrays in the past, analysts say successive Israeli assaults have severely degraded those capabilities over the past two years.

"Israel has destroyed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s underground bunker in Tehran, which is still used by senior Iranian officials after his assassination, Israeli media reported on Friday.
Israel’s military said 50 aircraft targeted the secret underground complex, spread over several blocks in the heart of Tehran, with over 100 munitions after receiving surveillance and intelligence reports, Jerusalem Post reported.
Some Iranian leaders were inside the subterranean complex when it was destroyed, Israeli media said.
There were numerous entrances to the secret subterranean complex, which was one of the critical command centers from which Khamenei and others often ran the country during a crisis, Jerusalem Post reported.
Israel’s military said Friday morning it had begun “a broad-scale wave of strikes” on Tehran, Iran’s capital.
Witnesses described the Israeli airstrikes as particularly intense, shaking homes in the area. Others reported explosions around the Iranian city of Kermanshah in an area that is home to multiple missile bases.

"A US helicopter fired missiles at a site near a Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) position in the Rashidiya area north of Mosul on Friday, causing damage to a nearby building but no reported casualties, a security source told Shafaq News.
The strike occurred at the entrance to the Quba and Shrikhan area near the main PMF checkpoint in Rashidiya, the source said.

Thanks, and nothing I can do about that. I covered many of the vids from last year and a few beyond, and didn't spot any vids from 2025 or 2024 (they all look the same with this kinda shit). The sources stated (I usually check with 2 or 3 sources on where and when ) that all of these were from the current operation (Feb 28-Mar 2026). I would have to see those vids with the dates included, to know which is which. Again, dates are from source/s. Thanks for the list.
