At approximately 4:17 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, Panama City Police Department dispatchers began receiving calls about a shooting at the intersection of Hwy 231 and Harrison Ave.
Officers in the area immediately located the suspect vehicle, a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck, attempting to flee the scene. They pursued the suspect vehicle north on Hwy 231, while other officers responded to the scene. The occupants of the suspect vehicle were taken into custody near Hwy 231 and Hwy 77.
At the scene, officers located a red GMC Terrain that had been shot, with two occupants suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers from PCPD, BCSO, and FHP rendered aid to the victims until EMS arrived and transported them to a local hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, one victim succumbed to their injuries soon after arriving at the hospital. The other victim remains in critical condition.
The identities of those involved will be withheld at this time, as this is an active investigation, and next of kin are being notified.
We are grateful to all the witnesses who came forward with information and evidence in this case. We have also been made aware of a video of the incident circulating on social media. Detectives are in possession of the video as evidence. We strongly discourage any further broadcasting of homicide footage out of respect for the victims and their families.
