They require oxygen. They don't have gills. If it strikes you in water, it's in the shallows where it can position itself to breath while somewhat submerged. That's what that hollow tube is in its mouth. It's extends like a telescopic pole to allow itself to breath while swallowing its prey whole...

Green anaconda and yes they are semi aquatic
