FYI What if “Primitive” Humans Were Really Just the People in the Book of Genesis?

The more I read history the more I realise the "primitive" people were living better than we were and if they saw us they would think it was a joke. "Cave men" for example, if you look at their art that has survived on the walls of caves, it shows they had mastered artistic techniques people even now would struggle with. The conclusion as to why is simple - their every need was met and they had so much free time that they devoted themselves to learning things outside of immediate survival, and art was perhaps just one of these hobbies they engaged in. The food from hunting and gathering, especially from cooking the mega fauna, was so efficient they likely only really worked hard a day or two out of the month, kill 1 Mamoths - eat for a month for the whole village. Rest of the time was just a none stop kegger around a bon fire, and yes, they had beer too.

I don't think they had beer until they started growing crops.

I have heard that the desire for alcohol was a prime mover for the cross over from hunter gatherer to horticulturalists.

First horticulture evidence is about 8000 years ago in PNG. It consists of irrigation canals. Growing taro I think...

But re your point that hunter gatherers had good lives, I think you may be right with a few provisos.

Most died in early 30's. But with great teeth due to no sugar.

Being hunter gatherer and nomadic, you had to be able to ambulate. If you had a broken arm or broken ribs then you'd get help. A broke leg and it would have had a terminal outcome.

You'd have injuries that have a similar profile to modern day rodeo riding proffesionals. This similarity being due to close in work with big animals, shoving spears in and clubbing them. Or injuries from cave bears with which we shared caves and fought it out on occassion.

Some evidence of canibalism exists with bones cracked to get at the marrow and skulls broken open to get at the brains. Possibly in a famine.

That being said, you'd be increadibly fit, lots of free time (see 'The Original Affulent Society' by Marshal Sahlins) and probably have lots of sex, maybe with Neanderthals... Us Europeans having 2% Neanderthal DNA so we had to have been doing a fair bit of Neanderthal fucking...

The women were hot I'm sure. And after a delousing bath would be really easy on the nose... men too for that point...

A bit of a make over, hair done in a pleasing style and well fitting clothes and she'd be able to walk the streets with no one staring...

I believe that most of them lived more than over 40’s because birthdeath was a great to lower average life age. Leaders and so propably 50’s and even 60’s.

The mortality rate would be on a specturm. High infant mortality and female death in chid birth, unsure if they could set bones. I doubt it.

Hunting injuries would be high and maiming due to these injuries would be high too and thus mortality if not from the injury then from the inability to mobilise when the clan would have to move to un depleted hunting grounds etc.

Despite this I think there is evidence for older members than 30. I'm sure 50 would be obtainable given the ability of the clan to cooperate and help weaker members, for which there is evidence.

Average age of 30 sounds pretty solid though...

I agree you have a point.

it looks like these "cavemen" work out at a professional gym and get their beards and hair regularly trimmed. Maybe it's an old gay cave club.
Yes. No women visible there.

Typical AI pic. They all look like Jesus...

That dumb deer looking at them won't last long.

Those guys would have been lousy too. Picking at their lice and scratching themselves whilst they waited to fuck each other. Charming...
