Did the mechanic adjust your piston return springs and fit new spark plug gaps?Finding out its gonna cost much less than I figured to fix the car . still $465 in the hole but better than I thought it was gonna be
piston return springs

When I was an apprentice I was sent to the Foreman for a long weight and a spirit level bubble. A friend was a trainee mechanic at a bike shop, he was sent to another bike shop for a box of spark plug gaps with strict instructions not to look inside the box, when he returned the head mechanic said to him "You've opened the box haven't you!", my friend admitted that he had but that the box was empty. The mechanic gave him a right bollocking and said that the minute the box was opened the spark plug gaps had escaped and sent my friend back to the other shop for another box. This kind of stuff is international. German cars need them too.
On the steelworks we sent noobs to the magazine to ask for 'Siemens air hooks' or 'weights for the spirit level'. All these old shit.
family and friends and a new friend.....hey the best things in life are free
