In 1984, Robert J. Moriarty flew his V-tail Beechcraft Bonanza underneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris. He had a French news agency cameraman with him filming the event.

Moriarty was a US Marine Corps F-4B fighter pilot who holds the record as the youngest naval aviator (at age 20) in the Vietnam War where he flew 824 missions.
