So except for a very serious incident (almost life or death or extremely serious injuries, ex: broken bones, etc) and unless you have some other conviction, you will not go to jail because of a fight.

I made him angry, and caused him to swim first to try to punch me, something I always do before a fight so I can claim self-defense before beating someone up and something that I have to do no matter what because having a two-time regional champion and a world champion fighting records the laws are never initially on my side.
2. He did not report me, perhaps knowing that he would not get anywhere or since he was the one who threw the first blow he might even have lost the case, or fear. Who knows...

And the police will only intervene if they find someone fighting at the time or if there is a subsequent report.
