I'm not much of a fan of cops, but in this case, they did right. The old lady may never have found her way out if the police hadn't come and gotten her. Dying in fear and pain of smoke inhalation is not a good death.

Every worker and supervisor at that nursing home who supposedly had this lady under their care, but left without her, should be burned at the stake.

They assume such elderly, and everyone else they encounter for that matter, can function as normal, which is their most common trait that fails to relate to others, all others, when their job consistently requires that ability. This was no exception. It's that consistent lack of consideration that will always separate them from actual humans with empathy and kindness. That is why they are never to be trusted, full stop.
