CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Two men were taken into custody after a reported robbery led to a car wreck and foot chase through the woods where shots were reportedly fired, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police said.
Dapatrick Richardson, 27, and Dequrius Greene were identified by police Wednesday morning.
Richardson is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of stolen firearm, possession of stolen vehicle, and resisting arrest, according to Charlotte police.
Greene is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, flee to elude, possession of stolen vehicle and reckless driving, according to police.
Police responded to an armed robbery at Kings Cleaner and Launderette at 632 West Sugar Creek Road around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The two men took of into the Hidden Valley neighborhood where they refused to pull over for police, the CMPD said.
According to police, the suspects car lost control and crashed into a parked car at a home at 1500 Pondella Drive. The driver of the car was taken into custody, while the passenger fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.
The suspect allegedly fired several shots as police chased him through the woods, detectives said.
Pursuing officers caught the suspect in the woods a short time later, police said.
Robbery Unit Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and determine if the fleeing suspect attempted to fire shots at officers.
