Your first exposure(s) to real gore media - When, what, where?

Limewire that shit exposed me to a lot as a kid!! First thing I stumbled across was rape then suicide then torture etc... Eventually limewire disappeared I was really young myself so I hadn’t a clue why it was gone. Well after that I just surfed the web clicking every link I came across page after page I had so many windows open! Eventually being someone who didn’t really understand the internet my computer got fucked with so many virus’s it just stopped working one day. I seen about everything you can think of and all before I hit middle school!!

2002. I found a few VHS tapes in a skip that one of the neighbours had during a house restoration.
i found maximum overdrive, lethal weapon, forrest gump and a tape called ‘banned from tv’. 13 year old me stuck it in the video player and became really intrigued.. then i found rotten.com and ogrish a few years later.

My first was when my friend showed me a “funny video” of some failed attempted suicide in India where the dude was cut in half but was still able to move. I was impressed by what the human body can endure before failing. Like the Mexican that got flayed alive. He was still alive when his entire front body was sliced off and he was still screaming when his guts were being pulled out from him. That was so fascinating.

The first one 4 me att was the luka magnotta one- I was like 8 when it went viral and i literally needed psychological attention cos of how fucked up I was mentally- it was one of the first gore videos I ever saw- another one I can remember was that one of a gang dismember a teenage girl alive..can't remember the name but it was like so fucked up I still remember every detail ;$

At my library school, when I was in ninth grade someone had given a big donation of books. Among those there was a forensics book with crime scenes and such. I did freaked out at first, but then I read it and it wasn't so bad.

The most vivid crime scene from that book was a very fat guy that falled from his bed and die, they thought he was murdered but according to the text eventually they found out he just fell and hit his head and die.

Local movie rental store back in the early 90's had a decent selection of gore VHS. Traces of Death 1 & 2, another was named Death Scenes iirc., Anton Lavey was the host/ narrorator. Few others I can't remember the names of.

A very young soldier, captured by Russians (?) , his hand tied behind his back. And on his side. A boot holding his head down as a person took a Rambo size knife and began to saw his neck. Starting at the " Adam's apple" working the knife forward . The young soldiers blood squirting about 3 feet into the air .

I think my first exposure to any kind of gore was reading a book called medical curiosities. The pics were all black and white and from the Victorian era as well as world war one but it was an interesting book. It had the full body medical pics of Joseph Merrick, the poor guy had a tiny dick as well as being completely deformed.

If I'm not wrong, the first "gorey" media I've been exposed to was when I stumbled upon an autopsy video on YouTube, it wasn't censored and it was a real autopsy, my stomach didn't take that well but after 2 days I got used to it

The only thing that I can remember is when I was little I would sleep with my earbuds in and one time my mom saw me and she was mad, so she showed me a picture of a decomposing body with earbuds in and told me that she died from wearing earbuds while sleeping, another time when i was still in elementary school I think and my dad got surgery for his hand because he was pissed and punched the floor and broke his hand. And he got pictures of the surgery and I was super fascinated when he first showed me them.

My father was in the Navy. He had a first aid book that had real pictures of all kinds of Military injuries. I started looking at it about around 4yo. Second gore was when I was about 9 or 10. Some people we knew had a son that died in a car crash at 16. They had a photo album of him in his casket. Everyone thought I was weird because I wanted to "look at it again"

One of my family members had recently passed away when was about 9, I believe. His brother said he would view his autopsy and didn't know what that was, so I searched. Lead me to view autopsy videos that I became super invested in. After that, just be enchecking out different sites when Gorey subject matter to view fun autopsy vids.

My first exposure was in the 1995 thanks to the band Filter and their song "Hey Man Nice Shot" which I learned was about R. Budd Dwyer who committed suicide on live television in 1987, and I went looking for more information on the incident.

I wouldn't qualify this today, but as a six year old I remember the film Clockwork Orange had a profound effect on me.

Although I am a new member on the forum, I've been around for some time. I'm currently in my late 30's. Like most, if not all of you, I liked gore flicks as a kid and have always had a fascination for the extreme. In the late 80's and early 90's I was watching the Faces of Death series on VHS. As you probably know, the violent content was mostly re-enacted, with some real news footage, etc. thrown in. It was pretty shocking at the time.

I was doing the dial-up BBS thing for a couple of years before the Internet became available to the public. I remember seeing pics of bestiality and child abuse (it's fucked up how many "underground" BBS'es has their own child porn section, albeit with few and low quality pics). I might have seen gore, but if so, it can't have been very bad. Because I very clearly remember discovering Rotten.com rather early in my Internet career.

On Rotten I was exposed to pics of victims of suicide, murder and accidents. I'm not sure what I saw first, but I can remember my first HOLY FUCK!!! experience. It was a post on Rotten containing two (I think) pictures of the aftermath of an automobile accident on a parking lot. A man had been run over, his head split open, and his brains smeared out over the asphalt. I've been trying to find it again, but Rotten is not very search friendly. This photo (bestgore.com) is pretty close, although I remember the Rotten one to be of higher quality, different angle, etc.

I'm not entirely sure when I saw my first gore video, or which one was the very first, but I believe it was in the early days of Stile Project. I know for sure that the first suicide video I saw was the infamous Budd Dwyer suicide that was broadcasted live on TV. The first murder/torture videos I saw were the ones recorded by Chechnyan Jihadis, the worst one of which was the infamous "Cechclear" video (often renamed to "Russian Soldier"), showing a Russian soldier getting his throat slit. The first version I saw was in B/W, but a better version with color soon surfaced. There's been an article on the main page (comments thread here) about it, but it appears to have been deleted. Any info on this, and why it was removed? I'd like to read it.

Anyway, it was rumored to be a part of a longer video, with lots of people claiming to have seen the full version, and others mocking them for mixing up old memories. This thread went on for a while until someone uncovered this 13 minute video, confirming the rumor to be true. Upon seeing it, I can actually remember having downloaded and watched it some time in the early 2000's. Here's another classic from that era with similar contents, this one from Dagestan. I seem to remember the violent scenes from this one circulating as short clips around the same time.


After Stile sold out and his site became a porn portal, or perhaps before, I started frequenting Ogrish, among a couple of other sites that I believe went under pretty fast. As far as I know/remember, Ogrish was the first site dedicated exclusively to gore that also hosted videos (feel free to correct me on this). After Ogrish sold out to LiveLeak, I haven't really been an active gorehound, except to find photos and videos reported on in mainstream media (if it's described somewhere, and reported to be shocking, I gotta see it.. You know). That is, not until IS / ISIS went berserk with their propaganda war. But now we're way beyond first exposure, so I'll end this here.
