10 American Serial Killers Who will Haunt Us For Ever.

So you're saying it went from 3 to 2 back to 3 and cooling off period to separate events back to cooling off period...no. The F.B.I. website information from the 2005 symposium is current otherwise it would be updated.

The validity of spree murder as a separate category was discussed at great length. The general definition of spree murder is two or more murders committed by an offender or offenders, without a cooling-off period. According to the definition, the lack of a cooling-off period marks the difference between a spree murder and a serial murder.

FBI also stated that serial killers were not sexually motivated..some were sexually inadequate, had been molested by a family member or close friend...each one of these serial killers targeted their victims for a reason.
Some are just fucked up in the head.

What? It never said that. It said motivation varies too much to be included in the definition.

I dont think you comprehend what you are trying to read

• Sexually-based is a motivation driven by the sexual needs/desires of the offender. There may or may not be overt sexual contact reflected in the crime scene.

I knew what YOU meant and you're wrong.

Motive is not the point

You first used a Psychology Today article that wasn't even aware of the updated information from 12 years prior to the article. So even a Ph.D. article writer can lack current understanding of a given topic. Had she been aware she would've updated her information.

The F.B.I. should be the source to use otherwise weird claims of the F.B.I. not recognizing sexually motivated killers get tossed around.

Lol so your saying my Dad,a retired homicide detective is wrong??

What background do you have in this?

Just because he worked homicide doesn't mean he cantc be wrong about the subject of serial murder. There's a difference between an electrician and an electrical engineer.

Therefore the F.B.I. removed the arbitrary concept of cooling off period from the updated and refined definition of serial murder.

And there's a difference reading a 2005 FBI report and actually investigating a serial killer murders with 20+ experience.

So you're saying that collective research by the F.B.I. pioneers in serial murder study gets outweighed by one or two serial murder investigations by your dad...think about that. Until a new symposium this is current information.

Check out the F.B.I. website and get current on the latest. There's additional reports which reflect the updated view on analysis of a serial murder crime scene etc. They're the actual experts on the matter.
