I have issues with this comment. If you were buried alive and nobody knew where you were you'd have to bury yourself alive. Which I think would be rather difficult.

You know the phrase "saved by the bell" comes from the grave digger undertaker chaps would tie a string to the supposed dead persons finger or arm and it would come from the grave to a little bell which the graveyard staff would hear the bell and save the once dead kinda person. yes to a certain extent but also requires someone with a bit of experience to set things up properly, Albert Pierrepoint had it down to a fine art adding or subtracting a few inches hear and there if he thought it necessary due to the prisoners physique and not just their weight
