This is actually a book originally published in 1995 and is NOT about the 2014 (or any recent) outbreak, but primarily about an outbreak of ebola in monkeys in the United States decades ago (which fortunately didn't kill any humans).

I’m trying to understand how the timing of the Reston outbreak alters your opinion of the book or how my reference to it was misleading.

And it’s not just about Reston, it describes a few different outbreaks as well as the science behind hemorrhagic viruses.

Yes. 'Bronzing up', as we call it in Australia, is always the first 'go to' fall back plan.
