I used to think that the horror movies I watched in the 80's were crazy gory, but when I started browsing gore forums the movies just didn't do it for me. Movies like the the 'Saw' series for example. None of the gore in that movie grosses me out at all now. You?

this thread kind of weirdly makes me think about " the crow" .... not a very good movie in my opinion but yet it was pretty popular and even had a bit of a cult following ... the sole reason being that Brandon Lee died during the filming of it ... like we all wanted to see the scene where he really died
Seeing is how they have narcocorridos, movies would be an obvious choice you'd think...thing is if the movies got crappy ratings, the producer and film crews stood the chance of um...disappearing
they wouldn't disappear... its just more content

I have never been ‘sensitive’ to gore. Even as a kid films with any gore interested me.

I actually find watching real gore allows me to tap into film gore in a more detailed way. I’m sure a lot of the special effects teams frequent gore sites to get ideas on how to make it look real. Even in films like Sicario which isn’t particularly gory, I get a deeper feel of the cartel stuff as I know in detail what really happens.

And in this scene from Hunter Hunter I can appreciate the woman’s revenge so much more as I’ve seen people getting flayed and skinned…

film gore is silly most of the time because it puts the emphasis on the wrong things like disgust, horror (jump scares, serial killers etc.), esoteric or fantasy things

but "real" gore in the end for me it's about the strange beauty of anatomy, like bodies and limbs which are distorted and arranged in an unreal way, but this view is rarely captured in films

an example of one of those silly moments

If gore were to ever start ruinin' horror movies for me then it'd be the gore that would go the way of the dodo, but that's not how it seems to work.
I'm not gonna get a storyline from a gore vid like I'm gonna get from some crazy Stephen King masterpiece.
I'm not gonna get a realistic death scene from some crazy Stephen King masterpiece like I would a gore vid.
