I didn't know if he'd qualify. He was really just a misunderstood kid with a heart of gold. Locked in a squalid room with his abusive alcoholic mother for his entire 36 years, she would put on a gas mask whenever she left (which she immediately removes on the other side of the door), telling him the air outside is toxic. They have only one mask so Bubby has to stay home with his captive feral cat. But Bubby is curious as to why the cat isn't effected by the 'toxic air', so Mum tells him 'cats don't breathe'. Bubby doesn't understand so she demonstrates by blocking his airway until he struggles free. Bubby begins experimenting with cling wrap and after unwrapping his cat to find it dead realises he's been lied to. He wraps the heads of his mother and recently returned equally abusive father, puts on the mask and leaves the only room he's ever known for the very first time.

I think of it as like an earlier version of an Australian Forrest Gump, without the historic references and fluff. It was made in my hometown.
