How Long Would You Have To Be Missing Before Friends/Family Notified Police?

I'm always surprised when there's a news story that someone's been missing a week, a month or even longer before their absence gets reported to the police. I'd like to think if I went AWOL for anything more than a couple of days my GF, friends or family would be calling the cops.

I get that some of the people who disappear live high risk itinerant lifestyles but many are 'normal' who you'd think would be missed.

This reminds me of a post on a now-defunct gore forum, some of you may remember, in which some guy named Donald died alone and nobody gave a shit. There were pictures of his decomposed remains and an ID with his birthday etc. Someone would remember his birthday every year and bump the thread saying something like “Happy Birthday Donald, you are not forgotten..” I’m glad we don’t have sickos like that on this forum 🤪😆🤣.
