Military service, and your thoughts on why you served your country!

Being of service to your country for a few years is great. Being of service to your planet and all its flora and fauna is just super. Being of service to mankind for a lifetime is on another plane altogether.

The majority of the planet will never be close to any of these, which is why the place is so fucked up.....

i was a T.O.W. gunner. then a combat engineer (for a while.) and then switched mos's to support platoon as a heavy equipment operator, with the engineers, which was fun. but i really loved working with the bombs and booby traps.
idk... if i could go back in,i would. i kick myself in the ass that i didnt make a career out of it. but it is what it is i guess. i miss the whole thing though. not just the engineer aspect, but the whole thing. sure there were times (like anything else) it sukt and couldnt wait to get the fuck out. but i miss it.....
my son is in and he actually does the natl guard full time. he did m.p. and part time in the honor guard. then he was able to make the switch. full time honor guard and part time mp. his contract is up for the full time. but he still does the part time m.p. he actually works now in private security in wash.d.c. for dignitaries and billionaires. he said the pay is really good. i groomed him well i think.

Nope, don't you remember the time I called you a 'dropshort'? But I also know the benefit of having a mortar or gun team as backup.

Ohh that's right, I'm not a dropshort though, I prefer long range sniper, but i was an OP. I was trained in the operation of the 105 and maintained them. I did fire them sometimes in Afghan when we weren't out and to help the gun bunnies when they had guys on rnr

There is always something missing from your life when you come out the military, like an itch that can't be scratched.....I get the same.....

You done a fine job raising your son to become a man.

yea that itch dude.
thanks on the compliment.

I would be ashamed to join the military in my country as of now.

This, lol imagine dying for jews , faggs , basketball nogs.

A smart move you not joining, they don't like mentally weak people. They break easily.

You saved the tax payer your burden. Thanks for serving your country.

I was inspired at an early age and wanted nothing more than to join the Military. Our family had relatives who served in World War 2 in the Army, my Grandmother was a shop worker who made B-17s. My Step-Grandpa was in the Navy as a LST operator/pilot
My Oldest Uncle was a Drill Sergeant and served sometime around the Korean war and Vietnam not sure of the details.
My Dad was in the Navy on an Aircraft carrier that deployed in the early Vietnam War he had a few stories but did not talk much about what he did.
My Uncle was in the 1st Air Cav in Vietnam did three tours, numerous awards/medals, killed a shit-ton of gooks from the air and ground. Ironically the nicest most peaceful guy out of all my Dad's brothers.
My uncle on my Mother's side was a tanker and trained at Ft Knox with the M-60 during the Cold War.

So when I took interest my Dad tried to talk me into the Navy and tried hard gave me posters and photos and what not. But While I liked the Navy and Airforce I really only wanted to be in the Army. I learned to shoot at a very early age and was rather good at it. Took to firearms well and had a solid interest. Had a mechanical and electronic interest and read a lot of books on the military. Did four years of ROTC and three on the Rifle team.

Did four years in the 25th ID going to guam, Okinawa, JRTOC and Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti
Came back home and did four more years in the 265th ADA as a Avenger crewmemeber
Hello fellow Air Defender, @Punisher_1 16S /14S Stinger/Avenger here. Assigned to 32 AADCOM before it became 94th Brigade. Stationed in Germany assigned to a Patriot Battalion. Did 4 years of that then cross-trained as a combat engineer in the National Guard where I did that for 4 years. Loved serving my country and miss it. I had to get out due to medical issues but was granted a full honorable discharge, not a medical discharge. Not sure if I'm using this site correctly. I'm a dumbass when it comes to these technical boards.

Excellent brother. I was stationed in gutersloh Germany. I loved it there, best time ever. My cousin was stationed Paderborn. He was 1st working dogs regiment....a dog handler for IED searching off lead. His Mrs was also the same but on line searching.....

Where about were you stationed?

Cool.... I wanted to learn more but the Air Defense part was in the National Guard after my Active duty time. The Avenger was super easy to operate a bit of pain in the ass to reload. Seems once they get you trained they don't care if you want to be more proficient or learn the ins and outs. I am a big tech nerd when it comes to military equipment and the like even dream of ideas for weapon systems but I fucked up and never found the right place to be to pursue that love interest.

I'm currently serving RAF. I can't wait to get out (time is up mid-2025).

It was good at the beginning. I'm worn to a nub now.

All those 5 mile tabs of death getting to you? Lol nah joking that's RAF regt.......

All those cushy hotels must be tough.........

Lol joking dude, just some army RAF banter.

Lolol

Hands in pockets.......scruffy cunts, I'd drill him until his eyeballs bled for that....

:lulz:

I've had some amazing detachments with squadrons. Hungary and Slovakia stand out in particular. And yes, the hotels we booked were spot on!

I've had my fair share of beastings and bashers, though. And I've spent time in Colchester.

I've had great times and met great people. But, the shit times and shit people are outweighing it now.

It was the same for me after I came back from Afghan. I'd done enough and it was time.fkrnmy family to take priority.

I'm just having some friendly banter mate, no offence intended. You have my respect for serving....

now that the u.s. has an influx of illegals, and are of "fighting age",they should be scooped up and thrown into the service. PROVE you want to be here and could be a positive contributor of society and not a burden to the system. if you try and go AWOL,you will be taken care of. plain and simple. even the women. they should be thrown into the mix as well.
"earn your keep", right?

I was not allowed to serve, insanity prevented that. I was ok enough for a firearms licence as it did not check mental health back then.
