Have you ever had a waiter question a tip?

scott13214

I am better than you!
I went to a Ruth Chris for dinner on a vacation. The waitress followed me to my car and says ‘Sir was there anything wrong with the service you received this evening? “ I was shocked the hired help would even address me outside the restaurant. I looked at her like she lost her mind. She says you did not leave a tip.

I asked her, what exactly did you do that was worth me paying you anything more then the price of my meal? She said I took your drink and food orders and made sure you had everything you needed. I look at her like she is fucking stupid, and say you are a waitress that’s your simple job.

But sir, tips is how I pay my bills. I asked her if I was her employer? She says of course not. I told her if she wanted a tip, get an adult job and grow the fuck up!

I went back in and got the General managers contact information. He picks up the phone, I am cordial explaining to him what transpired. He sounds embarrassed, tells me he is sorry, and to please give him a minute to speak to the restaurant manager. The manager gave me a $150.00 gift card good at any location and told me he was sorry for what happened

‘I told him I was upset about what happened, he told me he will personally make sure this will never happen again.
I hope she got fired. How dare the fucking waitress question me.

Has anything like this ever happened to you?

When I was a kid I once took half the tip from the waiters table that my mom left. The guy came out and told my mom and asked if she was ok with that. She said yes but I could understand a bit where the man was coming from but... The shouldn't had followed you. She made piss poor decisions in life to be a waiter.

Waiters rely on tips as a major part of their earnings. Unless they really neglect me, I leave a tip. If they serve me well, I leave a big tip. I don't think she should have followed you to the car, but I think you were wrong for not tipping and for trying to get her fired. Would you want to do her job for a day?

My mom taught me to respect everyone the same. It doesn't matter if it's the CEO of a major company or the janitor emptying the garbage, treat them the same. Also, a great teacher once taught: If someone askes for your coat, give him that and your cloak too. If he asks you to walk a mile with him, walk two miles with him...

What a cheapskate. "Get an adult job and grow the fuck up"? So arrogant. You said you were cordial. In here you're a smartass punk. The idea that they gave you a $150 gift card was ridiculous. I don't believe you. Should the lady have run out of the restaurant and approached you? Absolutely not. If that was me I would thought to myself that you're nothing more than an asshole. A cheapskate. Thankfully the majority of people do tip. The only time I would never tip is if the service was so bad or the meal was horrible. Doesn't seem that was the case here. I think you do it on purpose in hopes that the waiter/waitress confront you just so you can get a free giftcard. You're called a professional complainer. If you have a sense of decency you would have simply apologized to the lady and left but NO.....you turned into a Karen and asked for the Manager. Good god.

You think Ruth's Chris is a nice restaurant? Of course you do....lol
It’s not Michelin rated, but it’s a decent enough meal if you are time constrained.

The General manager is the one you would speak to regarding an embarrassing unprofessional incident such as this
I don’t tip because I don’t value the silly job the waitress does. Any adult doing this job should be ashamed.

You are just trolling now. Stop...its so obvious you should be embarrassed.

This guys a dickhead. I understand tipping is an unfortunate expectation and some do not deserve a tip though if you are going out to eat and a waiter/waitress is assisting you their doing it for the tip. To just be like "whatever your a loser don't be a waitress im not your employer" is scummy asf. You know what is expected of you and if you have a problem with it don't go out to eat, order in. I don't tip if the service is shit but based on that story dude you're off your rocker

It’s not my problem

It’s not my problem they need tips to pay their bills. I’m not their employers.

You could at least, pretend not to be jealous.

Your mom sounds like a twat for allowing that.
