Ordinary Men: The Forgotten Holocaust - Netflix Documentary

The movie was fascinating and horrifying and sad. Highly recommended!!! Very high production value. It’s as immersive as a ww2 documentary can be. The documentary is based on this book:

…. And that is the problem because it’s too short and general to be satisfying. Its very surface level in terms of info. It’s almost like a preview for the book or a commercial for it. It got me to order it myself so it worked.

Has anyone seen this doc or know of any other films about this dark period?

✌🏼❤️

Can we not find any better topics worth discussing in 2023? Fucksake, sure, what happened in World War Two was fucked up, and lets hope we don't ever stoop that low again (fat chance), but seriously - can we leave that chapter of our collective past - in the past, where it belongs?

Between Nazi Fanboys, wailing bleating fucking Jews, and Japan pretending that they committed zero war-crimes against allied POWs or Chinese citizens to this very day - can we just stop going and on about this crap? It's getting fucking dull now.

Lets discuss latex femboys instead...... yum.

I disagree with u hippo. While gore brought us here, many of us love history, books and other intellectual topics. I read on a daily basis and still learn new things from the beautiful son’s of bitches on this site

God you’re so wrong dude if only you knew how wrong you were. The reason we need to study shit like this is because these guys were normal decent Christian middle class German dudes that went from working at a factory and raising a family to shooting unarmed women and children, at point blank range, by the thousands voluntarily. If that doesn’t scare the shit out of you I don’t know what will. It’s so important we understand these events so we can look out for the warning signs when they start to appear in our society so this never happens again. I don’t want to be sent anywhere to shoot women and children because of their ethnicity. I hope you don’t either. Sooo before it gets to that point we need to learn about all this “old useless boring shit” so we never allow anyone like the Nazis to come to power in the western world EVER AGAIN.

PS: I argued for needing to learn history but I concur with ZeroK when he says it’s a pleasure to learn about it too.

I mean, what could be more relevant today with the Hamas pogrom and it's aftermath?

It´s a very very interesting documentary showing that it was not only SS who killed thousands and thousands, but ... "ordinary men"

I'm a fan of history too, but I prefer my history from the Bronze Age/Iron Age, or the Industrial Revolution. I'm just tired of this fixation on WW2/Holocaust - and the people who deny it/exalt in it/dwell in it. It happened. It was shit. Now, just move on.

Oh ok dude, I’m sorry for reading that in what you said but was coming off that way to me. I like the Bronze/Iron/Industrial age too and agree with you that it’s a fools errand to take on the injustices of the past as if they happened to you. Or celebrate them as if you did it.
You know what though, I almost think that we need the crazy deniers or dwellers or ex alters because they are a loud example out there of what not to be morally, intellectually and so on. Do you get what I’m trying to say?

There was just as much (if not more so) ethnic cleansing, pogroms, and "good people doing horrible shit" in Romania under Nicolae Ceaușescu's rule, along with the ethnic butchery of the Yugoslavia wars (Serbia/Croatia/Kosovo) in the 90s - but they get little headlines compared to the endless looping repeats of what Nazi Germany got up to.... and it's just dull. Sure, if we as a species can learn any lessons from our past horror stories, then good. But there are more tales of humanity's inhumanity than just what happened in the 1930s and 1940s, that is more worthy of attention.

If the Holocaust interest you, then fine. But it's not the be-all-and-end-all of human-induced misery.

I agree but again your first post was a bit schizo so i figured you were just another facist crazy on here. Again, thank you for clarifying your position. I just came across that documentary today, and after watching it I thought I’d share cuz it is great. You mentioned Yugoslavia which made me think of this documentary about the war:

How odd.... as I've not retracted anything I said in my original post - I still stand by that. I'm literally sick of World War Two being rehashed over and fucking over again in media, books, TV, whatever. Hitler/Nazi Germany killed what, 6-million Jews, and a few million other "undesirables" such as Romany, Homosexuals, mental/physical disabled, political rivals, etc...?

Stalin did all that and 40-million more in his reign of the Soviet Union, before he kicked the bucket in 1953. But, the documentaries on him and his maniacal purges of Jews, dissidents, rivals, and aristocracy/high ranking soliders are few and far between compared to the endless littany of Nazi germany documentaries. There should be far more interest in what he did, but no.....

Japan denying their crimes is precisely why we should talk about it. Fuckers were worse than Nazis, aren't sorry about it and most people have no idea about it.

There are a ton of books about the Stalin period! You couldnt read them in your whole life. Like what??? Also there are docs too. I agree that there is way more WW2 movies and Documentaries in America (also Britain and France) then about Stalin but thats just cuz we didnt have much contact with Russia, we didnt fight with them in the east in either world wars, we dont speak russian. French, German, and of course English is the common languages in western europe and so there is just not as close a cultural connection id say. Why do you get so bugged about it and why do you focus on Stalin specifically?

You're only now commenting on something I posted 6-months ago? You're late to the party.
