Well, I was a 23-year-old who was busy with everything, but I wouldn't have expected this as a birthday present from my girlfriend
They usually give this kind of gift to a child or a woman, but I was 90 kilos of muscle at the time, I worked in the gym every day and worked in the construction industry as a bricklayer who was happy to get home after 8 hours of work

I was a 22 year old adult male, 90 kilos of muscle who either worked on a construction site for 8 hours a day as a bricklayer or pumped myself up in the gym
Which is quite a difficult job because this is not the USA where they build houses from planks and everything is made of wood and then it looks like a regular expensive house
But here everything is made of concrete and brick so the physical strain is much greater every day for a European bricklayer than for an American
15 kg of a brick, a bucket of mortar 30 kg a bucket of concrete 35 kg about a couple of these have to be lifted a few times in the course of 8 sometimes 10 hours a day
This is not carpentry work here: here they build regular brick and concrete and fired tile houses which if kept in order can last for hundreds of years while these American fast-built cheap houses can last for 70 years and you have to deal with them constantly because either nature or insects will destroy them
In the rest of my free time, I either bought food and ate a lot or ordered pizza and gyros, went to a pastry shop to eat all kinds of cakes or bought clothes, shoes in the mall, a phone, sunglasses, Italian or French or German men's perfume
On the weekends, I was drunk every Saturday in bars, I drank Jim Beam + Coca Cola with ice or drank Dutch or German white wheat beer and a tequila or two
In addition, I used to do ecstasy or speed amphetamine once a month and went to parties of world famous DJs like Deep Dish, Hernan Cattaneo, Dave Seaman, Danny Howells, James Holden, 16 bit Lolitas etc
And if we didn't go to a party, I was snorting cocaine and we drank beer in the apartment and watched either the K1 held in Japan which was very popular at the time but has disappeared now long time ago or we played Xbox games and smoked marijuana and talking with each other our private life
Then I went home from my friends and every day or every second day I fucked my wife hard (when women menstruate they miss a week in terms of sex and their behavior is also very aggressive, they don't understand that just because they menstruate men don't menstruate and so every month you had a serious week off which was hard to bear with a permanently erect dick)

I ended my drug-using lifestyle a long time ago, almost 20 years ago and I don't even have a circle of drug addict friends anymore

In addition, any drug can cause severe mental panic disorder or even schizophrenia, even for a single use, so I absolutely do not recommend using drugs because it only messes up something in your brain once, then you live on sedatives for the rest of your life and can never drink alcohol or do drugs again
The few hours of "tuning mode" and the feeling of happiness that drugs give are not worth it to stay sick for life and possibly ruin your physical and mental health

i know what your talking about with work. i do concrete work. form work. footings,foundations,retaining walls. high rises. bridges. anything that involves concrete. i did a bit of brick laying and flagstone work also. so i do know hard work. and i too was a gym rat. i hovered around 172 lbs. also went to the gym everyday after working 8-10 maybe even 12 hrs a day.
the drugs were plentiful on high rise work. all walks of life did all different kinds of drugs. it was like a black market pharmacy.

not all houses that are built from lumber are shit,like you say. we have dwellings over here that are from the 1700's and prior,still standing. and with the (mostly original) lumber it was built with. my house is over 100 yrs old. still standing strong. is it fancy? no. not all pristine like a rich persons house.its just a house. but its still a nice house. i do not have a slate/tile roof,as its way too expensive here. i work concrete year round. in cold freezing winter temps to the melting summer temps. i know of the clogged up nose you speak of. even when i wear a dust mask of sorts,it only works so much. steam from a hot shower helps to get some out,but not aall like you mentioned. doesnt matter if its road dust or just dirt dust or construction dust. it still clogs the nostrils. my home is placed on a nice size lot with a neighbour to the left and right,but not really close either,and i have no one living behind me,as its woods. im not sure where you get your notion of americaan homes from,but not ALL homes are the way you described it. trust me. yes ive built my share of houses,and not all were cheaply made.

What I see in the American media (these such construction TV shows) is that these are "US lightweight houses" that are built on a concrete foundation but made of wood, they put insulation between the partitions, then the whole thing is plastered and painted
Basically, all the interior elements in the room and the kitchen are also made of wood and covered with something with stone cladding and the walls are made of plasterboard
The interior marble countertops are not original either, they are fake cheap imitation marbles (you see, marble would be very expensive thing)
Then come the designers who do a very nice job, so in the end the house looks very expensive and solid
But as near 22 years ago I am a bricklayer and I see that these houses are not worth half as much money as European ones and they have to be constantly looked after, probably due to natural disasters and insects and rodents, or bacteria, rodents and insects can settle between the walls, which is not very typical here in Europe, only occasionally.
A house needs some renovation every 20-30 years
The solution would be if you find brick expensive, then you would build a house from prefabricated concrete bricks (isn't this mandatory in Florida?) and cover the outside with polystyrene boards (Hungarocell was originally a Hungarian invention, but the rights were sold abroad so now its name is Nikecell, excellent thermal insulation in winter and summer) which can then be plastered and painted or noble plaster can be applied
