them are those tele shows that make (some) carpenters look bad and also make the good carpenters money. half these tv shows on home building is bullshit. money maker for the "contractor" on the show. also shows like these make weekend warriors. you know as well as i,that a house isnt built or renovated as quick as these shows make it appear. so,you get some office guy watching the show thinking "i can do that. it looks easy. anyone can do it!"
NOT! and then the local contractor is called to fix the disaster,and finish the job. every state has building codes to abide by. we will use florida,since you brought it up... from what i understand,them homes dont need to be built on just a concrete slab. there could be a basement if desired. but the house needs to be hurricane proof. cables and clips to hold down the framing. certain applications for roofing and siding and windows. the house needs to still be standing after the storm. but then again,you dont always win against other nature!
