Police Female Officer Shoots Knife Wielding Suspect

american cops are so fucking trigger happy and scaredy cats, no bravado or doing anything to de escalate,. just point n shoot - cowardly and pathetic
He was running towards them with a knife, I personally don't think he actually wanted to harm them but knowing that in that time from seeing him running with the weapon to the point of possible attack is impossible.
They had to shoot and ask questions later.

People really need to drop their biases and view things from the perspective of the LEO when evaluating their actions.

It’s a tough job. They have families. The last thing they want to do is kill someone, it’s a life ruining event, but when faced with the perception of “live or die”, most of us would chose to live.

RIP to the dead man. I’m sure he has family too.

Hopefully none of us will ever have to make that split second decision, but if we do I hope you have you “little friend” and have practiced the drill often. The guy with knife isn’t giving do overs.

No doubt a lot of US cops are trigger-happy but, after doing firearms courses for work in the security industry you get to see the vids of cops carved up by knives and do scenarios against knives, you'd be surprised how far away a guy with a knife can be to do you damage, 'if' that 2nd girl hadn't been on the ball, both were dead, if someone has a knife chances are they're going to stab you, especially if they advance on you, this guy waited for them instead of running away.

No one wants innocent people shot, especially Police officers. It ruins their careers and gives them a burden no one wants to carry. Taking a life isn’t a video game.

Surprising and advancing on anyone is a sign of aggression. Doing that to an ill equipped man or woman may result in the attacker getting what they want.

Surprising and advancing on a trained LEO while brandishing a weapon is a ticket home.

It’s not rocket science. Even bad guys should appreciate the concept. Having snowflakes defend them after the fact just emboldens them.

The officer isn’t a social worker and they have the same rights to defend themselves as anyone else.

BTW, I would have shot to fuck too. He has no right to advance on anyone and people have the right to defend themselves.

If a snowflakes would rather sacrifice themselves, well that’s cool too. Darwin rules apply.

One last thing about the cops being "trigger happy" that has not been mentioned yet. We have little to no context here. That is very determinative in how they respond to a man with a knife call. Down by the lake on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it may be some guy fishing and cutting up bait. Walking around a 7-11 in NYC at and it may be something more. But then again, even that may be some dude stocking shelves. The world isn't perfect, but most try to do the best they can with limited time and information.

Three of my children are LEOs. I want them to shoot first and ask questions later. I love them, but I dont want to raise my grandchildren.
