Except for the last 8 to 10 thousand years we've been illiterate, running around as hunter gatherers and dying at 30 with great teeth.

Then we started growing stuff after the last ice age, 10 000 years ago and from then to now we've moved from bands of 10 to 50 people to cities of 10 million. We're really not designed for modernity...
