The information you have access to must be very limited & quite outdated if you think that.
Several countries are engaged in space warfare, w/the USA, Russia, & China being only the most prominent ones. Multiple nations are developing capabilities to engage in space-based operations, including satellite surveillance, electronic warfare, & even anti-satellite weapons. Other countries like  India, France , & Japan also have space programs & are building their own space militaries.
