I know a few things.

Last time I fished was in newport beach harbor.
I got a couple nice spotted bay bass on a 3 inch grub. Those sob's fight hard.. especially on 6 pound test and a small rod.
Plus i got a handful of stingrays. The pesky shits.
Have you fished any recently?
