I couldn't find much on it, just that it was an escaped monkey. Apparently it's not an isolated incident though. They've attempted kidnapping babies before.

That's crazy but I believe it. I have known people who visited countries where there are monkeys and they said you have to be careful around them because they will try to steal anything that isn't tied to you securely. Apparently monkeys are some thieving shits! But, stealing humans? Are they going to eat them? I imagine that monkey was going to try and eat that kid. I mean what else was it going to do? It's barely plausible it would try to raise it and let the kid become one of the troupe.

I found this article. Apparently baby stealing is something they do sometimes. I haven't read the article yet, but it may shed some light on that behavior, and it may just carry over to kidnapping human babies as well as part of that behavior.
