Hall-Effect joysticks will never develop "drift". Game companies have intentionally designed controllers to fail, using substandard (almost archaic) tech. Pontentiometers rely upon friction to create the signal related to movement within a game. This guy was the first to actually make a functional hall-effect joystick setup, and he gave away the plans for free, which many companies seized upon.

 
I dont play videogames anymore... havent sence 2018. What am i looking at rn? Its a controller but why is it better?

You and everyone else. What really sucks is these companies knew it could be done better but chose not to. They make more money on controllers than they do consoles and games combined. Hopefully that'll soon be a thing of the past.

Ah, I remember the c64 very well. Taught myself BASIC with that machine. The TRS-80 was also a fun computer. Love seeing these references. Kids these days have no idea just how miraculous that phone in their pocket is.
