Serious Has anyone ever come across a dead body? If so what happened / what did you feel?

When I was a teenager I once saw a van parked outside this house in just the street over while I was walking my dog. There was a couple blankets covering some stuff I the back of the van and the trunk was wide open. I didn't think much of it, thought maybe someone's going on a trip or something and packing up, even if it was like 2am.

And then when I came back around again to go towards the bakery, police were there at that van, and they moved the blankets, pointing flashlights, and two women were chopped up inside feet hands, head. All visible. I stopped and stared for a while and the cops just gave me a noncommittal nod. And after a minute of rubbernecking just walked home with my dog.

Neighbor later said apparently it was a mother and 15 year old daughter, likely chopped up by the husband who had gone missing. I stopped walking my dog at night alone after that.
They were probably chopped up by a Muslim that they voted to let into our country. The Muslim went all sand-nigger rabid on them when they refused to undergo female circumcision. I swear, it's up to the Far-Right to save western women from themselves.

I used to have frequent dreams coming across a body in the woods while running from something. The feelin was horrible especially at age 16 leaning over that man, helpless in both directions. Recently I had a similar dream with the same dreadful feeling in my gut. Figured at 21 I would be over that.
Anyways has me wondering if anyone had a real life encounter. How it made them feel and what circumstances were.
Only if your comfortable of corse.
Mmmm I have only come accross a dead body twice then I got the sack from that funeral home.

I seen a dead body when I was 7. A woman had committed suicide by jumping from a multistorey carpark. She landed head first. Her head was split open and there was blood flowing down the sloped pavement. A short while after her body was covered with a sheet. When I was about 19 I was sat with some friends and on the next bench was an elderly man sitting there. I hadn't taken much notice of him as I was talking to my friends. A few minutes later he was slumped over with foam coming from his mouth and he wasn't moving. An ambulance was called and paramedics put him on a gurney and into the back of the ambulance. It didn't drive off to the hospital. Within a few minutes the driver came out of tye back doors and I asked him if the old man was OK, to which he replied that he'd passed away. A couple of years ago, I was out with my ex girlfriend walking her dogs on her estate at around 3 am. We'd been up all night on base amphetamine, so went out with the dogs. I needed a piss, so I walked into the nearby park to a hedge. I seen a pair of legs protruding from a bench and stepped over them thinking it was a mannequin. It was winter and the legs were bare. On returning to my ex partner I realised it was a person wearing a puffer jacket and shorts. I dragged him from under the bench and he was making a gargling noise, totally unresponsive. Shining my phone torch on his pale face I could see his dilated pupils in his eyes. So I rang an ambulance. I'd put the man in the recovery position and within 5 minutes an ambulance turned up. Both paramedics couldn't lift him due to his large sized body onto the gurney, so I assisted them. They wheeled to the ambulance. Once again it didn't drive off. Obviously they were trying to revive him. My partner and I left as the sky opened up and it was pissing it down with rain. I can only assume that he didn't make it. Both of us were wondering over the next few days if he had made it or not. I rang the hospital stating what had happened a couple of days previously, but the operator refused to acknowledge my enquiries as I wasn't a family member. There were no reports of him in the local paper either. Fuck knows if he died or not. I have a fascination with gore since seeing the woman jump to her death off the multistorey carpark. Yet I can't watch horror film gore for some reason. Fake blood and guts make me squeamish, but real blood and guts don't. By my own admission, I'm weird as fuck in that respect...

Full time fireman come across them all the time. But there was a time I was driving with my wife and we past a person laying on stairs that looked sus. Drove by again an hour later and it was crime scene and they covered the body.
You can probably remember the smell of the very first burnt vicitim. Especially if they are still cooking. Horrible

Some guy almost OD'd on Fentanyl when I was about to take the bus home from work. I'm all sitting and waiting for the bus driver to finally peel out before I went "Fuck this, what's going on?". All of the sudden there's this grouping of people outside the back of the bus and I see this homeless fella down with the bus driver and other people watching. Some random guy ran up and gave him a narcan spray up his nose then fled away, but it wasn't enough yet to help. Firefighters and Paramedics came over to the scene, giving him two more narcan sprays and did some other stuff I don't remember well.

They managed to stabilize him and carried him away. On one hand I was definitely scared for the dude, on the other I almost did some dickhead shit like pull out my phone and record. I'd like to think I got a bit of a moral compass on it since I decided not to.

I know I'm a hypocrite, watching videos of that nature on sites like this even commenting on it or finding humor in some but I know whipping my phone out to record is some dick shit.
Oh yeah, this reminded me of another dead body I saw in public. I used to speak to a homeless guy who hung out and slept beside a 7-11 across the street from my home. He was a meth addict and he was having some health problems. He was in and out of extended hospital stays frequently because his kidneys were failing him. At one point, the seasons had begun to change and it was getting chilly out, so I gave him a blanket one evening. I saw him sleeping under it the next morning when I went to school, and when I got home he was still sleeping under it. I didn't think anything of it, and I didn't wake him as I walked by him, figuring that he was feeling shitty and just needed to sleep. But nope, a short while later I heard sirens. I looked out my window and saw a couple of medics checking on him, but he had been dead for a while. I didn't ask the medics how he died, but chances are his body had finally quit on him out somehow. I forget what his name was.

2 stories. Once I walked past a homeless guy sitting at the bus stop. I kicked a piece of trash as I walked by and he looked right at me. Many hours later I was walking back and found him laying on the ground. Big guy 250lb ish. I said hey buddy you okay? No response cold as ice not breathing. I decided to try cpr but no way was I putting my mouth any where near his face. 2nd cpr compression I cracked his sternum. Sometimes that happens when preforming cpr. Then a homeless kid walked up on me and asked if his friend was okay and my response was like no he is not okay man. After medics came I went home smelling like piss and shit still from being near him and I had a bowl of soup and went to bed. The end. Im numb to medical issues most the time.

he was fine before you showed up. Did you take a shower before going to bed after being a do-gooder?

I'm sure some fokes on this forum "CAME" across a dead body.

I was on a trip with my family in Israel and we were invited on a tour of Beaufort Castle in Lebanon in 1982 ( I was 21) during the Lebanon War just after the Israeli army had 'liberated' it. It was one of those tours you hear about IDF giving wealthy foreigners to get them to donate money to the cause.

We picnicked above the airport where you could still hear guns firing. One of the soldiers invited my brothers to come and see something cool... so of course I followed. They had us climb a hill and under a tree there were 2 charred Syrian soldiers. I have always loved gore and horror films so the visual didn't affect me, but when the wind changed direction and I got a whiff of the burned flesh and hair I lost my shit and tried to get the hell out of there. As I ran back down the hill I had a soldier grab me and carry me down. I was inches from stepping on a mine. The soldier who took us up there took a verbal beat down for that. It's not cool to get the children of the people financing your battles killed before they have written the cheque.

( I feel like I might have shared this story here before but can't recall... sorry if this is a repeat. )

When growing up there was a kid in my town that disappeared. In all the papers, search teams daily, never found him.

The rumor mill said they’d seen him last down by the old jones mill. Some friends and I packed an overnight bag and walked the train tracks to get there, it was about a two day walk.

We told interesting stories around the campfire, one was about a local pie eating contest.

We nearly got our balls bitten off in an old junkyard by a dog, but we outran it.

had to cut cross country to another set of tracks, but had to wade through a bog. A friend got leeches on his bing bongs, not cool.

Finally found the missing kid. We didn’t do anything with him, just looked at him.

By the time we got back to town we were no longer boys. The trip had changed us forever and never spent time together as friends after that. Heard one of them was stabbed in the throat outside a night club.
The Body!!! Excellent collection of Short Stories. It became 'Stand By Me' for Hollywood . My favorite was Peter Straubs' 'Breathing Method from Kings' 'Different Seasons'...! I wonder if we have a lot of fans of 'Apt Pupil' on this site?

not so long ago i saw, a really fucked up road accident, driving on the highway, the whole scene looked like some bomb aftermath cause there were 3 cars and one of them was a mini van that actually went flying and rolling around, finally getting on top of a road sing, for some reason it reminded me to the "salvador dali melting clocks painting" and the guy actually was inside the mini van hanging upside down..... im not gonna lie i was shocked also cause i felt the reality of the situation and that it could happen to anybody, so i felt a strong unpleasant adrenaline spike, afteer that i stopped on a local shop to buy a 6 pack of beers to take home.. and the whole scene kinda haunted me for a while and had a headache afteer...
