Do machetes have a pointed end?
1. Let's just first establish that whatever Chinesium weapons the dummies in the video have are more likely to do damage from impact vs cutting ability. 🤣

2. Machetes are a tool that are generally used for clearing foliage (eg, tall grass, shrubs, vines). The tip doesn't have to be pointy or super sharp. However, like any other tool, different requirements might mean different designs and you can end up with something like pictured below, which does have a pointier tip and deviates from a traditional design.

Do machetes have a pointed end? he should have jabbed instead of swinging or at least swung higher to the guys face.
They do, but the design doesn't suit it well for that. Machetes are made for chopping. It wouldn't dig in as smoothly as a straight sword. Plus you actually need proper sword training to throw a proper jab with a weapon. Most peoples natural instinct is to just launch it like they were throwing a jab in a boxing ring but it's very different with something in your hands. Ideally, with any poleaxe, lance, or sword, you want to do a short normal swing first to make the space for your weapon, then transition into a higher stance bringing it lower to put your body in a natural stable position, before throwing it out straight.

If you just pull your weapon back and throw it out you'll have no space, and are inviting them to step in with a cut of their own while your body is exposed. And with without that natural downward motion into the next movement giving your body max stability, you'll think you'll be shoving it straight but it will be wildly inaccurate and not as powerful a hit.
