1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre restored for 40th anniversary

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre not only changed the face of horror in 1974 but still remains one of the most shocking, powerful and terrifying films ever made. Now to celebrate its 40th Anniversary, a brand new restored version comes to Blu-ray courtesy of Second Sight.

Widely banned on release, its notoriety has not diminished and this harrowing tale of a depraved Texan clan and its chain-saw-wielding icon of horror Leatherface continues to stun and disturb audiences like no other film.

Supervised by director Tobe Hooper, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has received a stunning 4K restoration and 7.1 audio mix, looking and sounding like never before. The film will be released as a two-disc limited edition Steelbook blu-ray with brand new artwork created by Doaly and stacked with brand new bonus features, a standard two-disc Blu-ray, with reversible sleeve featuring the new artwork and the original U.S. poster artwork will also be available, on 17 November 2014.

I don't know if you'd be interested in this but Clive Barker announced this week that he will be remaking Hellraiser! The script will be revised, the same actor that played pin head will be brought in to play him and there will be little to none in the way of CG, just make up effects! I am super EXCITED about this!

Last time I read about the Hellraiser reboot Bradley didn't even know it was happening and had no plans to be involved. Now it sounds like he's in. I'm all for a version that Barker wanted originally, I just don't want them to fuck up. The original is pretty fucking good.

Considering its the original creator and actors it should live up to our expectations, man! I usually have faith with this sort of stuff!

My favorite horror movie. I bought the 2-Disc Ultimate Edition Steelbook DVD several years ago. It was restored and remastered in HD and includes a bunch of really cool bonus features, including a full-length documentary about the making of the movie.
