The Perpetrator​

Life before the shooting​

As described before Rathjen was a withdrawn loner spending most of his time in the basement of his family home located in the quiet suburbs of Hanau to be more specific in helmholzstrasche 13, he lived with his father and bedridden mother. His father Hans Rathjen was known around the neighborhood as a nationalist who "got in trouble" multiple times for attacking the migrant families who moved near his house. In the early 2013 Rathjen was diagnosed with a severe type of schizophrenia, the disorder affected him so much to the point of the therapist who was examining him to request the state of Hanau to revoke his drivers license because he was too much of a threat to himself and others around him, this apparently wasnt enough for the great men and women of the "Ordnungsam" (public order office) not to grant him a gun license MULTIPLE TIMES since 2014, for the people who are interested what guns did he bought: (Not specified "LEER" brand pistol) chambered in 22lr. Date: 18.07.2014 , Sig Sauer p226 chambered in 9mm Luger Date: 28.04.2014, WaltherPPQ M2 chambered in 22lr Date:22.09.2018, He also lended either a Glock 18 or a CZ-75B Shadow 2 (conflicting reports) from a trader to be used for the shootings.

Preparations to the massacre​

Rathjen put great effort into the planning of his attack authorities say that he had planned it at least 6 months in advance its interesting that the planning phase of the attack overlaps with the timeframe of the 2019 Halle synagogue shooting due to his very anti-semetic views it can be deduced that it at the very least had some effect on him. He visited both the Shisha bars under the pretence of buying a water bottle to perfect his plan. the video below is from the Arena Bar (the second shooting location) I believe

Rathjen was very public about his Plans frequently rambling semi coherent things on his website as well as posting videos warning people of some mysterious organizations who were planning to take over the world and replace the Population of Germany and People with German blood with racial minorities. Before the shooting he spray painted URL links to his website across Hanau its unclear whether someone accessed the website before the attack.

THE SHOOTING​

He first arrived at Midnight Shisha Bar at around 10 PM he got inside the bar sat down next to the counter before quickly pulling out his gun and shooting the owner dead he then started opening fire inside the Bar injuring and killing several

After he felt like he was finished he exited the bar and ran towards his car he opened fire on a nearby car, the driver survived but decided to pursuit Rathjen. He repeatedly tried to contact the 110 emergency line but due to the fact that the shooting wasn't contained to a small area the lines were always full.

after that Rathjen got in the car and drove towards the Arena Bar & Café where the deadliest part of the shooting will take place. He arrived at roughly 10:10PM travelling around 2.2km from Midnight shisha bar he stops the car gets out and immediately starts shooting through the windshield of the car that was pursuing him killing the driver later identified as Vili Viorel Păun a Romanian citizen who was of Roma descent. After that he entered the kiosk which is in the same building as the arena bar. Shooting and killing 2 people before making his way through an open door into the cafe, the patrons stood no chance against Rathjen as the only way of escape was the door that the shooter came in They huddled into the farthest corner next to the gambling machines as Rathjen opened fire on them pitilessly killing 2 and injuring many others.

He first exits the car and murders one chillinq in his car.

The manlet then enters the first shisha bar, walking towards the back of the bar, and opening fire killing 3 people.

Then, he leaves the back of the bar towards the lobby and opens fire killing 2.

This is everything showed on the forensic breakdown of the attack, nothing else. But here is the aftermath.

After the shootings​

Rathjen escaped from both shooting locations before the police had arrived. He nonchalantly drove back to his house he enters it at around 10:20PM he walks towards his bedridden mother and shoots her twice with a Sig Sauer pistol killing her. He then walks down the stairs into his room in the basement before taking his own life

VICTIMS​

Gökhan Gültekin, a 37-year-old Turkish-German, worked as a stonemason and was well-liked for his friendly and hardworking nature. He was a regular at the Midnight shisha bar, where he was shot. Sedat Gürbüz, 29, also of Turkish descent, managed one of the shisha bars that was attacked. He was known for his kind and welcoming personality.

Hamza Kurtović, a 22-year-old Bosnian-German, was young and full of life. His death deeply impacted the Bosnian community in Germany.

Another young victim, Vili Viorel Păun, a 22-year-old Romanian, displayed incredible bravery by chasing the attacker's car and calling the police twice. Unfortunately, he was shot and killed when Rathjen realized he was being followed. His family later criticized the authorities for not responding quickly enough to his calls.

Said Nesar Hashemi, a 21-year-old German-Afghan, was the youngest victim of the attack. He had been spending time with friends at the shisha bar that night.

Mercedes Kierpacz, a 35-year-old Polish-German mother, was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. She had been working hard to support her young child when her life was taken. Sati convert.

Fatih Saraçoğlu, a 34-year-old Turkish citizen, was a carpenter with dreams of building a better future in Germany.

Ferhat Unvar, 23, was also of Turkish descent and had big ambitions for his future. His mother later became an activist, fighting against racism in Germany.

Kaloyan Velkov, a 33-year-old Bulgarian citizen, was known as a hardworking and friendly man who had moved to Germany in search of better opportunities.

Legacy​

The Hanau shooting left a deep impact on Germany, sparking debates on racism, far-right extremism, and the failures of law enforcement. Its legacy continues to shape discussions about hate crimes, immigration, and government responsibility in protecting minorities.

Memorials and Activism

The victims' families and anti-racist groups have worked to keep their memory alive and demand justice. A major movement called "Say Their Names" emerged, focusing on remembering the victims and fighting against racism in Germany. On anniversaries of the attack, memorial events and protests take place across the country.

One of the most prominent activists to emerge from the tragedy is Serpil Unvar, the mother of victim Ferhat Unvar. She founded the Ferhat Unvar Education Initiative, which aims to educate young people about racism and discrimination while providing support for those affected by hate crimes.

Hanau is near my place and I am not surprised that something like this happened there. Would be interesting to post the manifesto published by the attacker. A brief summary of the manifesto:

He thought that he had been spied by a foreign intelligence his whole life, since his birth. Also made some remarks that people from middle eastern and north african countries are basiclly worthless and should be exterminated.

Six years since Hanau happend and whole Germany is licking these sand rats asses by enrolling transparants with the slogan "Say their names".

Disgusting case of hypocrisy showing sorrow for some sandnegroes who were killed by a ordinary German, while the victims of the Berlin Truck attack of 2016 are not remembered and the German Government gave them a "special" memorial: The so called "Golden Crack", a golden line at the pavement floor, where the attack took place. So every dog can defecate on this memorial, while the scumbags of Hanau got graffiotes and erected sculptures as memorials...
