I am not a younger person, but can describe a situation that correlates to this question.
My son is a sophomore in college, springs break is coming up. He’s not old enough to ‘do’ spring break with his frat just yet, so he asked if he could do something with us. Sure! We’ll put a trip together! Just let your part time job boss know you can’t work these dates.
So we check later -
‘did you tell your boss you can’t work?’
He said ‘no, I told him I can’t be in the dorms that week’.
‘Okaaaaay… did you tell him you’re going out of state?’
‘No, just that I can’t live in that area for the week. Also, he’s trying to schedule me at another location (in our town) for that week.’
‘Dude, you need to tell him you’re going out of state and can’t work.’
‘Yeah, okay I might tell him something before we go.’
