Albert Hofmann: The man who discovered lsd

... affected by a remarkable restlessness, combined with a slight dizziness. At home I lay down and sank into a not unpleasant intoxicated[-]like condition, characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination. In a dreamlike state, with eyes closed (I found the daylight to be unpleasantly glaring), I perceived an uninterrupted stream of fantastic pictures, extraordinary shapes with intense, kaleidoscopic play of colors. After some two hours this condition faded
Three days later, on 19 April 1943, Hofmann intentionally ingested 250 micrograms of LSD, which he thought would represent a prudently safe, small amount, but was in fact a strong dose. At first, his trip was not pleasant, as people appeared to morph into fantastic creatures, office furniture moved and shifted like living entities, and he felt possessed by otherworldly forces

19 April is now widely known as Bicycle Day, because as Hofmann began to feel LSD's effects, he tried to ride to the safety of his home on his bike. This was the first intentional LSD trip in history.

Hofmann's research with LSD influenced several psychiatrists, including Ronald A. Sandison, who developed its use in psychotherapy. Sandison's treatment at Powick Hospital in England received international acclaim.

Hofmann continued to take small doses of LSD throughout his life, and always hoped to find a use for it. In his memoir, he emphasized it as a "sacred drug": "I see the true importance of LSD in the possibility of providing material aid to meditation aimed at the mystical experience of a deeper, comprehensive reality."

What a great guy! I've had so many fantastic extended nights/weekends because of his "science," and NONE of those times ended with violence or gunshots. I think the best two types I remember were these oversized hits with big black ants on them, and some actual 25-30 year old Blue Sunshine from a retired roadie that traveled with Led Zeppelin in the 70s. He even had a couple of signed Gold Records on his wall, you know, because I guess they had so many!! That was back in the mid 90s, and i haven't even looked for any since 1999.

I loved acid until I didn't. Never had a bad trip but after the first 3 or 4 trips it just wasn't the same. But I always loved that nice relaxing comedown about 12 hours later. The first time, as I was having my relaxing comedown, sun just starting to come up, I decided to turn on the tv. Predator had just started. Never seen it before. That is an awesome movie to see for the first time during your first acid trip.

i never had an experience with real "lsd", since most shit around, where im from its "Nbome" which can be highly toxic, and yeah i had a bad trip on it many years ago, luckily i survived, but wouldn' take the risk again, plus i dont do psychedelics anymore..... but i had a lot of experiences with shrooms and never a bad trip on them
