When was a kid I thought the Marines were the fucking coolest but as ive gotten older an met a bunch of them ive realized most of them are complete fuckin losers that had nothing goin for them in life. Then to hear you brag that your a "expert" as a threat really makes me think that.

I'm not going to lie. There are a lot of fucking losers in the Marine Corps. But to become a Marine you have to go through a hell of a lot more shit than any other branch. And the Marine Corps has the smallest percentage of females just about 10%, so to be a female and make it in the Marines is even harder. I could have joined any branch I wanted to but I chose the Marines. The Marines are the most respected military branch. In every movie and every book and every story every badass is a Marine (if not a Seal) there's a reason for that. Is every Marine actually a badass?... absolutely not I can vouch for that. Are all female Marines badasses most fucking definitely not! In fact that's a huge hurdle I had to overcome was the automatic bias against females in the Marine Corps as being those couldn't carry their weight.

That made me work even harder to prove that I was not one of those. I was promoted meritoriously three out of five ranks because I worked my ass off to show that not only was I equal to but better than a lot of the lame ass males that were my peers. I was the first female to attempt Patrol leaders course in my unit in Japan and was actually voted top of the Class by the 13 other male members of my class. I carried my weight I did the work I showed up and I showed out and I had the bruises and scars to prove it. And I'm proud of that.

No I actually didn't join right out of high school! As noted in some of my other posts I grew up extremely poor and my parents did not have enough money to put me through college so I started attending Community College right out of high school while simultaneously working at a bank and I started taking more and more hours at the bank and I started to realize that while I was making good money at the bank as an 18-year-old if I continue down that path I was not going to make the kind of money that I wanted to be making in my 40s. I knew that the military offered free college education so I made that my goal to join the military and being hard-headed and competitive I figured if I was going to join the military I was going to join the hardest branch. I was in the Marine Corps for 10 years. After 10 years I got out because I was tired of working harder than all of my peers that's the thing with the military is no matter how hard you work if you're the same rank you get paid the same so I was tired of all the lazy asses around me that were the same rank getting paid as well as me and I was working my ass off. So I got out of the Marine Corps in 3 weeks later I went to Iraq working for Kellogg Brown and Root. And I was over there for about 18 months.

I will just add another thing. There is a very fine line an infinitesimal barely visible line between bravery and recklessness. There are many Marines who would be deemed as reckless losers in real life. But In the heat of battle they are the ones that make the split second decision to do something reckless that saves countless lives.

I will just add one last thing. I know you said that you've met a lot of Marines in real life that you think are losers. I would just ask you to take into consideration that many of them, as with men in the Vietnam War, went through some shit that regular people cannot even imagine and the impact that that has on a person when they return to real life is unimaginable.

It turns a normal person into something that is barely functional. Many Vietnam veterans returned and turned into those alcoholic junkies that many people passed on the street and they turned into that because they could not handle mentally what they returned with. The same can be said for many Marines, Soldiers, etc.

Not making any excuses for those that are truly losers but there are a lot of people out there dealing with demons that people can't even imagine and it is a day-to-day struggle for them.
