tech Anyone Interested in the Apple Vision Pro?

They launched this last week with an expected retail of US$3,499. IMO that's a lot of cash for something I don't see a market for, at least not yet. Google Glass (an epic failure), Meta Quest Pro (not quite as much of a fail but still not a hit), Meta Quest 2 (replacement for the most successful VR headset but a fraction of the cost of Apple's device at US$499) have never hit mainstream adoption and I'm not convinced that's going to change.

VR is something that's been tried in various industries be it medicine, upstream oil & gas exploration, aviation with the last having the greatest uptake. But these are all highly specialized application with users prepared to spend millions. $3500 for "mixed reality" personal computing?

I’ll look forward to the fail videos that will inevitably follow 😂.

In all honesty, I’d like to have a go because I find fancy tech interesting. But bollocks if I’m spending that amount of money on one.

I have the cv1 rift and quest 2, and in fall of this year I will buy the quest 3..... I have been an early adopter of VR for many years, and i still believe in it. But I'm not buying this shit. Or the quest pro….especially when the quest 3 is gonna be better. For half the price than the pro.

I see the appeal but the cost and 2 hours or less of battery life is not going to cut it. If they have some really solid reasons for such a device i can see a possible "want" but need, no.
