Unfortunately guns are the only things that are sure. Sometimes with animals as big as bears, now you just have a pissed off and hungry has shit bear in front of you and they're still fast.

Unfortunately just giving a bear food is marking them for death. It makes them always come back no matter how much you might relocate them, they just get bolder and bolder every time it happens until someone gets hurt. When they say don't feed the animals they really mean it. First it's just exploring, but this is pretty late stage, breaking into someone's house.

Bear spray would be a viable method, no?

That bear was like "Oh hey, I thought I heard someone breaking in so I thought I would come check. Then pow lights out. The asshole didn't have to kill him he was just protecting the neighborhood.
