A man died from electrocution after breaking into a power substation and climbing onto a structure in the unit to steal power cables in the early hours of Monday (21) in Criciúma, Santa Catarina state, Brazil.
According to the Fire Department, the man suffered an electric shock after getting stuck in the energized structure he climbed onto.
The suspect was still conscious and had burns all over his body when firefighters arrived at the scene. However, he suffered another electric shock while the firefighting crew waited for the substation employees to turn off the power so they could access the scene.
The man was taken to hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.
