I've lived in a few different places and the area that I'm in now, they are a substantial percentage of the population. In nearly 5 years, I've never heard an unkind word or had an issue and I interact with them often because it's simply unavoidable. They are polite, call me sir, hold the door open for me, and I have noticed no substantial difference in the interactions I have with them compared to the whites. It's pretty harmonious.
Now, in some of the other areas I have lived in, and even in some not too distant cities from me now, I know this isn't the case and that the odds of an unpleasant 'stereotypical' interaction would go up, but it's not like that everywhere. It's not just this area either. I've had positive interactions with the African American community in other parts of the country.
If another person holds the door open for you, do you say something? I say thank you. If you were raised correctly, you do the same. Do you not say it because the individual holding your door is an African American even though they acknowledged your presence and held the door for you? Because if you do, that's a bitch move. I believe you should treat people with respect when they show it to you and there are countless examples of small acts of courtesy that I've encountered here. You'd have to be a real two faced asshole to go around being nice to someone's face and then later post online calling them names.
By the way, are you consistent in your rhetoric about them or do you only talk this way online? Do you have the balls to speak this way in public to their face like this or are you only comfortable expressing yourself this way when you're online, anonymous and safe from the consequences of your words? I'd rather be able to be consistent in my beliefs and words, not hiding my true feelings behind some fake polite mask in public because I am worried about getting called out over what I really think.
