Do you think serial killers are mentally ill?

Many people would kill, if given the right reason. For instance, if someone fondles a little kid, hurts animals for fun or kills another human being for no reason at all, it would be enough for some to take matters into their own hands. Especially when you live in a corrupt or backwards country, where you feel justice won't be done otherwise. Most of the time, this is an impulsive act. You don't have to be mentally ill to do this, imo. And often, they do feel a sense of remorse. Also, it's usually a one time thing.

Then you have your people that are trained to kill. Army, jihadists, child soldiers. They either gave a reason to kill, a stupid religion that brainwashed them or are given lots of drugs, which fuck up their minds. Most if these people are not botn this way, they are created. And most of these people will have remorse or PTSD after the fact. It's situational killing, so to speak.

The difference with mentally ill killers, lies in the reason they kill (they have none, or the reason is pretty trivial), the need/urge to kill (their brain tells them they have to do it), and the fact they have no remorse at all. They cannot and will not stop unless they get caught, or die. It's a perpetual state if mind, often shows early in life, which is indicative if underlying mental illness. It's a deviation from the norm, one that hurts others and themselves. They will not recover, ever, I think, so to allow them to run free in our societies is bullshit. I am not talking about all mental disease here ofcourse.

Hope that made sense, English is not my first language and I am tired.

As someone who can relate to these guys a lot more than the next person, I feel like the diagnoses that are slapped on serial killers by prison shrinks are given to them a bit too haphazardly/eagerly. I feel as if a normal person would desperately be looking for a reason to dismiss this behavior as “mental illness” rather than admit that the capability to do the types of things they have done lives inside each one of us, and is a naturally occurring desire even. I think many serial killers are misdiagnosed with things in order to discredit them as well. It’s a commonly held belief that these guys kill for fame, so if you go ahead and say a murderer is schizophrenic it stains their credibility and makes it easier for the observer to set themselves apart from the killer in question. This all makes me think that they are more lenient in attributing certain behaviors exhibited by the prisoner to mental illnesses that would further paint a calm, lucid man who presents as sane, instead as crazy. I don’t think they are crazy, just different.
…What do you fine folk think?

Psyop 101: how to lure serial killers out of their hidey hole

Step 1: find a site which has gore content with an open comment section and become an established member

Step 2: begin your story by creating a sense of trust between you and you target. Make your target feel like he is talking to a likeminded individual.

Step 3: create a story in which you indicate what you want your target to answer, and be specific. Also distance yourself from the mainstream opinions.

Step 4: close your story with the statement regarding a perspective on the matter (again opposite of mainstream) which should be done in a short sentence.

Step 4: end your story with a short and direct form of the question you want answered, to get a higher response rate.

Step 5: sit, wait and analyse the responses.

Actually, I think they should run for POTUS.....
There's been plenty of Presidents all throughout the world that killed another human being did you know?... even doing it themselves & not via an order to their military commanders. I don't know if I would consider them "murders" though but, that's my perspective. Some people don't agree with even a cop shooting a bank robber or a crazy person with a gun and say it IS murder. Is it? If it is then there's alot more serial killers than even estimates say.

my car won't start
do you guys think it's broken or just stupid? insert long paragraph full of words i think sound smart... i just thought i'd ask a mechanical question of people who are not mechanics, and pretend it's philosophy
i'm a gore fiend, duhhhh
Holy Shit You Fucking Killed Her Dude

Fellas, this is what happens when you let your toddler watch patrick bateman sigma edits on youtube shorts.

Maybe some are ill but i assume that alot just figured out that they only have limited time on this planet and if you wanna kill someone you should do it as long as you are fit and can hold a gun or knife... or baseball-bat... or a brick... or a pipe... or a frozen newspaper...

No, most have a decent IQ. They just put their animalistic instincts to use and got off on it. Dahmer was doing a justice killing gays and niggers. Ones who fucked with kids? Absolutely! The rest? Well usually when you’re hitchhiking you already made a grave mistake

At best they usually get the axis two diagnosis of "antisocial personality disorder" ( psychopath ), and they really are the proprietors of that one.

Well, it depends how you define "mental illness", because i guess for many people just being willing to take someone's life is a sign of mental illness, even if there are no other symptoms. But i agree with you that most of those diagnosis are used too much. I would say that most serial killers are actually "normal" if you can say that, or at least mentally healthy, beside some minor disorders or illnesses that almost everyone has. The only difference is that many killers suffered head injury, from what i read, and also many suffered trauma in childhood (for example Chikatilo, Ramirez, Henry Lee Lucas). But also, a lot of people had traumatic childhood and didn't end up as a serial killers.
