A tragic accident occurred on the inbound lanes of Thepharat Road (Bangna-Trad) at KM 23 when a dump truck with its bed raised slammed into the beam of a pedestrian overpass. The impact caused the structure to collapse onto vehicles traveling below, crushing them. The incident resulted in one death and several injuries, causing heavy traffic congestion for several kilometers.
Witnesses driving behind the truck reported seeing the abnormality from a distance. They noticed the truck's dump bed was stuck in the raised position and attempted to honk their horns repeatedly to warn the driver to stop. However, the driver apparently did not hear or notice the signals. The truck then violently struck the overpass beam, causing the concrete structure to collapse instantly onto a pickup truck and other following vehicles.
Rescue workers equipped with hydraulic cutting tools rushed to the scene and found three people trapped in the wreckage. They were rescued and rushed to Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute. Unfortunately, one fatality was later confirmed: Mr. Num, 57, the driver of an egg delivery pickup truck, who was crushed by the wreckage and the bridge structure.
Initial investigations revealed that Mr. Num was an employee of an egg shop in Samut Sakhon. Before the accident, he had picked up a load of eggs from a farm in Chachoengsao and was heading back to deliver them when the tragedy occurred.
Officers from the Bang Sao Thong Police Station inspected the scene and worked to manage the traffic, which had backed up for several kilometers as the main lanes had to be closed to remove the bridge debris.
The latest reports indicate that the truck driver responsible for the accident sustained only minor injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. Police are monitoring him at the hospital, waiting to officially take him into custody for interrogation to determine the exact cause. He is expected to face charges of reckless driving causing death and property damage as the legal
