I have been driving near London in my hire car which I have thankfully just returned at Heathrow.
The traffic is unlike anything I've ever encountered. The motor ways flow into each other continuously and when you go off them you enter into some kind of roundabout hell. Many are like some nightmarish Venn diagrams in which figure 8's swirl around in flower like shapes sometimes with traffic lights thrown in to add colour to an otherwise drab scene. The GPS sat nav doesn't really help much as it is not accurate enough to tell you exactly which lane to be in to exit with the result that you sometimes end up back on another motor way for a while whilst the little electronic brain in the thing recalibrates.
I'm sure if you live here it all works seamlessly but it sure gave me some scary moments, and I drive on the left like they do here. I can only imagine what fun our American friends must have...
