Very cool. The volcano is essentially belching ash and gas. Relatively safe, means it won’t build up pressure for an explosive eruption.

The amount of ash ‘covering’ is laughable. I remember when mt st Helen’s erupted, I lived in Eugene OR at the same, and there was FEET of ash on everything.

Even to this day there are mounds of ash that was cleared from the roadways that eventually grew trees and foliage on them.

My grandmother lived in Wenatchee when it erupted...she mailed a box of ashes to my parents at that time and I still have it...

Were you terrified when it happened? I remember it was all the talk on the boob tube for quite a longtime regarding whether or not it was okay to remain living in ash covered areas.

Scared? Nah it was an adventure. Snow that wasn’t cold? So weird! And it tastes terrible! Look how it makes permanent swirls in the car hood when you swish it around! (Got in trouble for that last one, scratched the EFF out of the paint)

It reminded me of the description of Auschwitz's crematorium and the amount of ash it produced.
Lol, you're not supposed to taste it I don't believe.
I've gotten an earful myself before "scratching" some guy's race car paint when in all reality my writing in the dirt & dust on their hood would buff out easily when they washed it next. Spastics.

The natives probably are excited more than anything. The dirt worshippers God has erupted his mighty phallus into the heavens signifying life or whatever. On a side note, this is a very likely scenerio when you build your home on a fucking volcano...
They do that because the soil is so fertile. The theys even gave it it's own name, Andisol & you do not need to add any fertilizer so the land itself, particularly to agrigarian cultures, is very profitable to use for growing fruits & veggies with the drawback being it MIGHT explode & you MIGHT not be able to escape. High risk, high reward I guess. 🤷🏼‍♀️
