At approximately 7:20 a.m. on June 13, a serious traffic accident occurred at the slope at the base of Dong Tu Bridge (located in Tien La Commune, Hung Yen Province), resulting in two fatalities.
According to initial information from authorities, at the time in question, a motorcycle with license plate 89AB-682.49, driven by a young man and carrying a woman, was traveling from the roundabout at the intersection of Hung Ha and Tien La communes toward Trieu Duong Bridge. As the motorcycle passed the slope of Dong Tu Bridge, the rider suddenly swerved to avoid a truck traveling ahead. Due to the sudden nature of the situation, the motorcycle lost control and collided head-on with the side of a 16-seat passenger car parked on the roadside.
The high-speed collision resulted in the death of the young man riding the motorcycle at the scene. The woman riding behind was thrown into the middle of the road. Immediately afterward, the female victim collided with another motorcycle and was then dragged under a passenger car with license plate 17A-709.81 that was in motion, resulting in her death.
At the scene, the front of the motorcycle with license plate 89AB-682.49 was completely destroyed. Since the chain-reaction accident occurred during rush hour, authorities quickly mobilized rescue teams and forensic investigators; they set up traffic control checkpoints at the roundabout where Hung Ha and Tien La communes meet, temporarily banning all cars from passing through the Dong Tu Bridge direction. The Criminal Investigation Police are working with relevant agencies to urgently retrieve dashcam footage, identify the two victims, and clarify the cause of the accident.
