Who knows where I got that quote? A relative of mine recently passed. He drove a halftrack for Patton’s 3rd Army. He was in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia when the war ended. He had a cool Nazi machete but was reluctant to tell me the story behind it. RIP Big Al.

Trousers neatly bloused over boots, creases sharp, all squared away. Looks like Patton's third army...

My condolences but he had a very long life...

Cool story bro that's a guy who lived one hell of a life. Here we are stuck in traffic and paying $8 for a latte while complaining about bullshit. A lot of people will never know let alone understand how good they have it now.

@McM as a lover of military history I wanted to make sure u saw this
That's very nice having such memorabilia from your relatives, thanks for posting. Was your relative maybe of Italian or native descent, if it's not too much to ask? His appearance reminds me a bit of the indigenous Canadian scout Tommy Prince from the US/CAN 'Devils Brigade' I recently read about.
I had to look where Pilzen is exactly located; it's approx. the same degree of length as Berlin and Leckwitz where the US met the Russian troops for the first time. I think the US forces went any further in the East.
Unfortunately, the WW2 soldiers in my family left no photographic traces I'm aware of, just a small amount of paperwork. Out of five, four died at the Eastern front.

Yes he may have had some native descent but the primary heritage is Mexican. We Americans write it as Pilsen but the correct way is ‘Plzen’ with a diacritic glyph over the ‘n’ maybe umlaut or a Caron
