animals Hitching A Ride To The Caribbean

I wonder if that's the real reason green iguanas became an invasive species in Florida... All because they hitched a ride on an airplane. They're supposedly a big nuisance & you're asked to humanely kill them but, that seems drastic. I wouldn't want to have to anyway.
They can hang on pretty well to high winds but I'm pretty sure it fell off at higher speed. If this guy was in the wheel well, perhaps it may had made it to whatever destination if it didn't freeze to death.

Plus aren’t they known for falling out of trees during freezes?
Do they? It must not freeze very often or stay freezing long enough for them to succumb or they wouldn't have been able to become an invasive, nuisance, non-native species though & they have per Florida's Fisheries & Wildlife Department & whomever else monitors that sort of thing.

Imagine a frozen lizard falling on you from the sky. 😆
Tokay geckos have suction cup feet that are pretty strong, stronger than an iguana's I'd say. If it doesn't freeze & is in a spot out of the wind, it probably could make it like the green iguana has & they are another invasive species to Florida but the theys say it is from humans releasing their pet geckos into the wild & they multiplied.
Wtf is going on in Florida ffs?

Yeah their metabolism slows to a crawl as a defense mechanism to ensure they don’t freeze, but as a result they fall out of the trees in a coma of sorts. Then when it warms up they come to and go on about their business.

When it is cold like that, are they so numberous you can easily get one? That could be a good online side hussle business, for the right Floridian anyway.
They sell them, juveniles (which are pretty small) at Petco here for $40-$50 & up but, then it's hundreds more for a terrarium plus, heat rock, & UVb light, etc. As far as lizard "pets" go, they're on the pricier side & require more attention than others & aren't an ideal purchase for a novice but, they have the potential to grow much bigger while other lizards that Petco sells won't. They also live about 15-20 years in captivity. A large one can sell for thousands & is cool to have if you have the time. They're too high maintenance for my liking though but, I considered getting an iguana once-upon-a-time.
