!!HORROR MOVIE DISCUSSION!!

So I'll start by mentioning two movies.

1. Cannibal Holocaust - I will not be watching this again. Not because of rhe murder and mayhem to humans, but because of the animals that were actually killed during the filming. I can watch people being killed all day long but I'm a big sissy when it comes to animals being killed and this is one of the only movies that I've watched were they actually kill animals in the filming of it.

2. Skinnamarink - I think I would watch this again but it was so deeply unsettling and terrifying on a whole different level. People either hate it or love it but this is one of those movies where to really experience it truly you have to put your phone down and be fully immersed in it with all the lights off and it will take you back to a place when you were 5 years old in your room in the dark or trying to find your way down a dark hallway to the bathroom and seeing things in the dark that you swear were actually there. It evokes such a visceral childlike terror. It's exhilarating but also terrifying. But to truly experience it you have to be fully present not looking at your phone and you have to watch it at night with the lights off and the volume up to here all of the ambient sounds that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
Actually... I take that back re CH being the only movie I've seen where they kill animals in the film. Come and See ( another phenomenal movie) also has one... that poor poor cow😂

Fuck, have some catching up to do!

Abandoned sounds awesome, and I have heard many great things about Weapons. I love flicks and books about cults, demonology and witchypoo shit. 🧙‍♀️

I'm reading Call of Cthulhu at the moment. Interesting to take in the inspiration behind many more modern works, S.King, The Thing, Dr Who etc.
Reckon Lovecraft would have been shunned back in the day with his "disturbed" imagination.

Needless to say, Metallica's "Call Of Ktulu" instrumental was inspired by ... well, you know. Give it a listen.

Hey Goregrish Fam! (Yes I said it). So...this is going to be a somewhat long post, I apologize in advance.

As I've mentioned before... I'm new here to GG. I've had some time to think tonight... after my redneck neighbors we're done setting off their M80s... and I decided that I wanted to make this post.

Somebody asked me recently what brought me to this site. I have gone through all the other Gore sites and I settled on this one. I really like the interactive atmosphere of this site. And before any of you cyber lynch me just hear me out 🤣.

I would like to start a thread on horror movies and horror cinema in general. I think many of us are here because we seek stimulation. Many of us who have been through things in our life whether it's childhood trauma, combat trauma, or ADD /ADHD... or all of the above ( as with me being a Marine Corps veteran).. it takes a little bit extra for us to feel something.

We've become accustomed to being numb to so much that it takes a site like this to make us feel something. And that's okay! But I think that there's a correlation between the content on this site and a love for horror movies! So I'd like to open up a discussion regarding horror movies. Many of you might be rolling your eyes right now and that's fine! But I thought I would take a chance and make this post.

The subject of the discussion is Horror Movies... The good, the bad, and the utterly disturbing. I am a dyed in the wool cinephile (a person with a passionate interest in cinema, film theory, and film criticism).

I absolutely adore horror movies. I think the love of horror movies falls right in line with the love of Gore. So I will put this question to you..my fellow movie fans; what are some of the horror movies that you either love, hate, or will never watch again because of how viscerally disturbing they were.. or just your thoughts on horror movies that fall here there and everywhere in between the aforementioned topics.

Like I said, many of you will read this and want to proverbially stone me to death because of how long this post is, or because you might find it mundane/gay compared to general Gore subject matter. I get it ...and if you want to say something mean/punishing as a result of it then that's okay I welcome it...come at me GG😆.

But I'm not scared of taking a chance and going out on a limb. I like this site and I wanted to do something to participate more actively. I'll post a follow-up question as a start to a horror movie centric discussion
Good evening. I love horror movies too. Have you seen the movie "Horror in the High Desert"? It’s a found-footage franchise. I love found footage. I’m eagerly awaiting the fifth movie.

Oh my god YESSSS!!! That was some creepy ass shit. There were a few parts of that movie where it was truly scary.... like deeply creepy unsettling. And those are the kind of horror movies I LOVE!🥰

But you know what I don't know if I've watched any of the sequels now that you mention it! That is definitely on my to-do list now!😁

Yeah his books and stories didn't actually become popular till after his death. Stephen King is a huge fan of Lovecraft also.😊

Unfortunately, the trailer doesn't show us the atmosphere or the slow pace of the film.

I can tell you that the coldness and sense of uncertainty that the director achieved made this film a masterpiece.
Well, just sat down to watch The Abandoned and my dumb ass had downloaded Abandoned, Brittany Murphy's last film.

But the good news is, I found The Abandoned on YouTube with a free 7-day trial of Sundance Channel. About to start it up now!

FUCK!

Still the wrong goddamn movie! (2015).

Found the correct one on Tubi. Grrrrrr

Dude! I’d never heard of Skinnamarink and so I looked it up. Me and my stoned brother watched it last night, we literally shit our pants. We both had to stay up and drink till we had the courage to go to bed. We’re now going to send you the bill for the cleaning of our pants. 🤣🤣 only kidding!
That definitely was a good movie thank you. 👍👍

All of those are AWESOME!! Love every single one of them! They're doing a cinematic re-release in theaters in October for Pans Labyrinth and I'm so excited!😁

And I loved The Mist as well but I was so incredibly pissed off by the ending that, as good as it is, I can't rewatch it knowing what happens at the end. Its is just aggravating as fuck.

Dagon was awesome! But I'm probably a little biased because I am a huge huge huge H.P. Lovecraft fan😁
And if you enjoy listening to audiobooks, then you have to listen to these masterpieces of Lovecraft narated by the the best narrator of the Horror genre!
