Turn: Washington's Spies

Wow! Possibly the best historical drama I've ever seen. Follows the adventures of citizens of Setauket NJ and the role they played in the Revolutionary War. Great acting, riveting storyline, backed up by the fact that it's mostly true to life.I understand they wrote Alexander Hamilton the last 15 episodes or so because of the success of the play Hamilton . They're don't seen to be many more compromises made. Only 40 episodes, highly recommended.

M. Fritz Lang. 1931.
6/10
Said in reviews to be based on Peter Kurten. A child killer from around the era. It kinda looked him, but there is nothing specific in the film. The main plot is, characters and factions from the crime world and police are trying to catch the source of recent child abductions, there is no violence seen or even hinted at and no soundtrack makes the nearly two hour run time a bit of a slog. A forgotten example of classic early cinema.

To be totally honest I would probably have given it an extra mark if Jeremy Renner wasn’t in it he just looks such a smug twat. It’s well worth a watch to chill out to with a few beers and there are laughs,Isla Fisher is brilliant in it there’s a part where she goes to tag someone after they let her join the club and she shouts “eat my little ginger balls” where the fuck did that line come from ?

Hostiles: Western from 2017

Really well done western, good acting, nice storyline. 7.2 RT score

"In 1892, legendary Army Capt. Joseph Blocker reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to their tribal land. Embarking on a harrowing and perilous journey from Fort Berringer, N.M., to the grasslands of Montana, they soon encounter a young widow whose family was killed on the plains. The travelers must now band together to survive a punishing landscape that's crawling with hostile Comanches and vicious outliers."

Sharknado 5 Maybe 2/10 maybe 10/10 It all depends on what mood your in,the movie makes no sense at all but this is Sharknado time travelling all over the place we have sharks with dinosaurs and sharks in the future with a planet of Tara’s,so many in jokes and cameos you can’t keep up with them,Dee Shnider as the cowboy lawman was my fave. What can I say give it a go I was on the point of turning off many times but glad I stuck with it. Drink and drugs may help.
Sharknado movies and movies like them are the spice of life.

I went and saw Crazy Rich Asians and liked it. Don't judge me!!!

Tag 6/10 Semi true story of a bunch of guys who carry the game tag on into adulthood it does have a few laughs and is watchable.

Weird. I watched that film the other night. Had never heard of it before. Although not the usual film I'd watch, I thought it was really good. Renner suited his character perfectly too.

Not a film, but I was watching Madmen on Netflix and gave up approximately into the fourth season. How it got as popular as it did I will never know? Apart from a few good moments, I thought it was fucking boring.

Caligula. 1979
4/10
Saw this years ago and thought it was alright. Then i read about this short doco, Mission Caligula. I heard lengthy interviews with the two main people, Alex and Kelly about the whole mess that was post production. I tried to rewatch it the other night and after 90 min was largely bored. It would be interesting to see a true cut of the film.

Mission Caligula.

Nightmare of elm st. 1984.
8/10
Was doing some drawings and had this one in the background. Still good film.

Inferno. 1980
3/10 (fell asleep)
Dario Argento film. One of The Three Mothers trilogy. The 1st was Suspiria, i watched that last year and felt it didn't really live up to the hype.
This one i fell asleep near the end of. It's not colourful as Sus, but has the Argento 'style' some scenes are really good, but it drags after the hour mark.
