The mouse that roared. 1959.
5/10
A small nation declares war on the U.S. over copyright infringment.
Starring Peter Sellers in three roles, comedy about a small nation who are losing money because a vinyard in the states is reproducing a version of their wine.
Interesting and lighthearted.

The hospital
1971.
7/10
A murderer is quietly killing staff in a hospital.
Starring George C. Scott as the depressed chief of medicine who is trying to keep it together and figure out why people are dying.
The main plot isn't the murders, they just crop up as minor details that become the issue near the end. Its him dealing with the breakdown of his marriage and other issues that the hospital is facing.
An intense performance from Scott with some great monologes. The variety of 'problems' that distract from the murders kinda took my attention from the film as a whole at points. But still an entertaining watch.

John Carpenter's Escape from New York. Cheesy as fuck but what else do you expect from Snake Plissken in a 1981 action flick lmao.

However the apocalypse triology by john carpenter is very, very good. Would recommend highly.

Loveless. 2017. Russia.
10/10
Two parents are going to divorce and their son runs away.
Excellent drama about the breakup of a family and the consequences when each of them is wrapped up in their own world.
It starts with the parents being openly hostile to each other with the son able to hear them. After he goes missing their is no reuniting or giving a shit about each other, they are more relient on the partners they have pending the break up.
The film is bleak and sad but real in it's presentation of modern life with people retreating in their cellfones to get a form of 'happiness' or relief.

The Bridge

A documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge and a handful of the many people who were drawn to it in their darkest hour.
I'd only seen one clip from this documentary prior to watching it. It left me holding my breath and thinking how brave yet sad it was to make that choice. The story behind it and several others, told by loved ones and friends, are powerful and terribly sad.

I know many people have seen this, but I had not. Maybe there's others out there who haven't seen it either, and would like too.

A couple of days ago I watched "We Have Always Lived In The Castle" based on the Shirley Jackson novel. I rather liked it.
l had always meant to read the book but never did however the day after watching the movie I did go ahead and read the book (it's short enough to read in a day if you have the time). Loved the book even more but the movie is still pretty good. By the way the movie is on Netflix right now.

Here's the trailer on YouTube although to be honest I don't think it's that great of a trailer compared to how good the movie is:

When I was young this old paperback version of the book was on the shelf. I believe it had belonged to either my mother or my aunt. I always loved this cover.

Saint Maud. 2020.
7/10
A devout christian and a dying patient.
Maud takes on the role of care giver to a woman dying. Her strict christian views come into conflict with the woman and she leaves.
The carer part of the film is only the first half, from there is becomes a view of Maud as she maintains her strict values and penance while trying to interact with the outside world. A good physiological horror about loneliness and isolation.

Edo porn. 1981.
5/10
Biographic film of a japanese artist.
Interesting film about an artist who created two pieces of art that are now widely known and seen.
Simple film that follows the life of a artist and his daughter as he paints and struggles to pay his way.
The video explains the film nicely.
